Allow customers to begin the videogame trade in online & then complete in-store

In all honesty the videogame trade in process is a mess time wise & structure wise, most trading regulars could complete a trade better & correctly than the reps at CS. And since we`re still waiting to see if BB will rethink the decision to backtrack on removing the gaming counters with dedicated game reps(horrible decision already has an existing ideax thread) here`s an alternative. http://www.forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-Buy-IdeaX/Please-bring-back-the-video-game-trade-in-counters/i...

If we could just go onto BB.com, select the games we wanna trade in & get a full print out to bring to CS that would save ALOT of time. All the rep would need to do is scan the barcode which would already have the amounts INCLUDING the 10%(which has been a MAJOR issue just search the forums). If there`s 10 games all they have to do is confirm the games in the cases are the same & get the ID. If one or more of the titles are not correct they can simply scan the barcode next to whatever title(s) are incorrect to remove them from the trade.

Even better existing traders would have the option to "load" their ID info right on the page too which would be barcoded for safety. That way a CS would only need to verify each game(s) & then scan the complete trade barcode and/or the 10% GCU bonus barcode & customer ID info barcode. By reducing what the rep.needs to do there`s less chance of error or employee giving bad info which can only speed up the process by "dummy proofing" it & allow the pc to do all the work. Alot of companies try to remove the "human element" for some of the same reasons not to mention cost cutting, but once this would go into place it would greatly reduce the # of customer complaints on the forums boards from customers who clearly know what/how to do to complete a trade.

Offer an additional $1 per trade for doing the online pre-trade since it ensures a trip in-store which can lead to a instant in-store sale. If you had the gaming counters you`d be able to coach up the staff on how to upsell to customers recieving giftcards which will pay for itself very quickly if done correctly.

Speed up, dummy proof & profitize the entire videogame process in 1 move which will strengthen Gamers Club Unlocked(GCU) all in one motion.

As you likely know by now enuf I'm persona non grata at at least my local Gamestop stores because I abused them and their policies as hardcore as they regularly abuse their core customer base. Apparently their managers/district managers do NOT like smart/informed consumers who exploit every loophole in their system to their advantage and to the detriment of their reps. Smiley TongueSmiley LOL

So getting the manuals/coverarts for games I could buy disc only from Best Buy would be a no go for me. Thankfully at this point the only games I'm looking for are older titles that I may have coverart/manuals for thanks to hoarding all of the cases/artworks/manuals from the closing Hollywood Video stores a number of years ago. Smiley Tongue

As soon as I get a pre-owned BB game it gets switched from that case to one of the dozens of spares I have since the barcode stickers on their used games make the old EB Games ones come across as easy to remove by comparison.Smiley Frustrated

I mean, seriously, I took a cotton ball with Goo Gone on it and put it directly on one of the BB UPC stickers on pre-owned games. It got off maybe a quarter of it and the rest seemed like the glue became even harder to get off after removing that little bit.

But yeah, BB needs to train all of their reps who could be taking in trades to be able to think for themselves and make decisions on the fly. Not only that but they need to have the reps handling ANY gaming transaction actually know something about gaming. I tried doing a B2G1 on PO titles a while ago to get 3 GOTY editions my local BB stores had in stock. They pulled a non GOTY edition from the shelf and it took me getting a manager involved and informing them that GOTY or not they're both the same SKU in the system. The girl handling my pickup would NOT budge on swapping the non-GOTY for the GOTY version without manager approval.

I agree that the trade-in process has always been a headache, and I have to find a trade really worth my while to take the time to go through the process. So, expediting that process would make trading in much more appealing.

I wonder if you could jump through legal hoops by making the barcoded list a bid/quote/estimate that is finalized in-store.

@BStringbean, there`s really no issue regarding the legal end b/c that process still has to be completed in-store. Even if they allowed us to link the ID thru the online trade it would still need to be verified in-store otherwise stolen/fake ID`s would run rampant.
