Allow Trade-ins to count towards "Elite" and "Elite Plus" Membership.

I was just thinking how trading games in awards the customer with a gift card, but purchases with a gift card don't reward the customer with RZ points or money spen towards Elite and Elite Plus. Since trading in games awards RZ points, I don't see why these same trade-ins don't allow us to work towards new membership status. The gift cards we receive insure we spend the money at Best Buy so we are still shopping and doing business with the company. I believe this may also promote more trade-ins as well. Thanks for the consideration.

The points do count towards your elite or elite plus status. If you spend $2000 in cash plus do $1500 In trades you`ll be elite plus.

Contrary to what enuf mentioned, trades do not currently count towards My Best Buy Elite or Elite Plus membership status -- only actual in-store purchases, BestBuy.com orders, and purchases made using a My Best Buy MasterCard do.

I think it would be an alright idea to allow trade ins to count towards it. I don't see a major reason as to why it shouldn't be allowed.

Ah thanks Aaron, I was pretty sure the trade-ins didn't count so I appreciate your confirmation.

Did they used to count towards rz silver and we lost it with elite/elite plus or was that a glitch? Per other silver members who stated that never came close to $2500 but reached year after you mainly by trading.

I'm pretty sure that the trade-ins DID count towards different levels at one point. If that's yet another thing that's been taken away(on top of the @gamer subscriptions now) from the Gamer's Club Unlocked/My Best Buy program, then that just plain sucks.

You want to give people MORE incentive to do trade-ins and be repeat shoppers because they know they're valued as customers, Aaron. But with the triple tier reboot for the MyBestBuy program(formerly Reward Zone) and the reboot of the Gamer's Club Unlocked program it just seems like corporate is trying their damnedest to take away benefits rather than add to the programs.
