This would be a WONDERFUL idea. There were quite a few time I wished I could revise my reviews.
100% agree, I gave a highly credible review on the Ipad Air (1st edition of it) and it is a great ipad still today but the wire for charging is absolutely horrid quality as I have had to replace the wire several times now.
Yes, an Edit option IS needed for reviews. Many online sites are doing this now and it really helps.
Today I reviewed a recently purchased 27" Monitor. Also with that purchase was a lesser item (cable). When I wrote the Monitor review, I clearly wasn't paying attention, because I clicked "Write a review" next to the cable in error. So now, when people look at the reviews for that cable, mine won't make sense. After all, "Screen IS Big" hardly applies!!! Putting aside embarrassment, I'm more bothered by the confusion created.
It's not uncommon for a seemingly excellent product to fail a few weeks or months into its usage. A reviewer should be able to revise his/her comment to reflect such shortcommings. This is especially true now, that most electronics are being built with high technical specs but increasingly low quality.
Being able to edit reviews should be not only allowed, but should be ecouraged. The original review should be left intact and edits should have to refer to changes of opinion of views in the original review or to bring attention to added issues, observations both positive and negative or operational defects. This is really a necessity especially with high dollar items such as UHD TVs. Reviews are the only way for buyers to get any real life knowledge of TVs as the store displays are virtually useless as they are all canned feeds and are in no way relevant to the quality that they will deliver in real life. I purchased an LG 65UF8600 that is HDR capable and I gave it a very good review but I didn't have an oportunity to view HDR content at the time. Now that I have, I find that the TV reverts to an HDR app when HDR content is fed to it and with the app you have no ability to adjust any of the normal features such as contrast, brightness or any of the other adjustments that are available and since you are stuck with the way that the network or the production company thinks it should look, it becomes a very important thing for a buyer to consider when they are paying $2000.00 and up for a television. I will edit my review on Amazon, and if Best Buy is really interested in their customers satisfaction they will change their policy. It will also cut down on the returned products as buyers won't be returning as many products to exchange then for what will actually work as I did.
I can't believe Best Buy doesn't allow you to revise and update product reviews. Some of the most helpful reviews are the ones that show what buyers think initially and then after having the product for a while.
There also is nothing more frustrating than leaving a glowing review for a product only to have the product start having issues after weeks later.
It is also unfortunate that customers can't provide some positive feedback if a manufacturer really goes above and beyond to help resolve an issue with a product that the customer might have already left a negative review of.
If Best Buy is worried about the "integrity" of the review, require that the original review stay visible and attached immediately below the new/updated review.
I just checked several different online stores to see if they allow you to edit your reviews and Best Buy is the ONLY one I can find that does not have some way to update your reviews.
