Allow Gamer's Club Unlocked the same discount on digital games (20% off)

Currently, Best Buy Gamer's Club Unlocked members save 20% off new games. This is a great feature, and that's why I don't mind paying for the new (much more expensive) service. However, the exclusion of digital games makes me less likely to purchase more titles.

Since we're now paying $120 for a 2 year subscription, it seems logical to include digital console titles seeing as how digital is the future. Many of us gamers want to move away from having physical copies, and instead have digital copies.

Going with this, the amount of digital games for systems like Xbox One and Playstation 4 are extremely lacking. I'd love to see more games available, similar to how Amazon has done, so I may purchase more!

@Padinn, I just heard back on this. At this time we will not be moving forward on this idea, but that doesn't mean we won't put this into place sometime in the future.

Yes, I have made several complaints to BestBuy ( on the forums, in store, and also on the phone) For whatever reason they just seem to be adamant on not implementing more digital games it's quite sad really cause I just can't trust getting items shipped to my house that can fit into my mailbox when I am not at home ( live in a bad place )

I also do support the idea of digital games being added to the 20% off. While I am nto currently a member I can see where the huge bill for it ( what is it like $120 now? ) is a high amount it saves you a large amount in the future if you are a huge gamer.

Would anyone else like to see us expand this feature of our Gamers Club Unlocked membership to include digital console titles? Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

I still like to buy physical games, not a fan of digital but I think the service needs to be expanded for the price

@vann

Amen to that can`t wait till there`s a larger breach than the PSN stuff & it affects alot more people. Then people will realize it`s never good to only have 1 option. Plus it`ll take one 12-14 yr old kid to cause all the trouble like they`ll really care if they`re on punishment for breaking curfew while everyone else can`t do a thing for a week or two.

Hi Allan and all the other awesome BBY people out there helping and making a TRUE difference when it comes to customer service. I posted this message elsewhere and learned there's already this thread here so I'd like to spread my thoughts on this issue to your listening ears..(or eyes in this case since ur reading this lol) As an avid gamer for nearly my whole life from my first visit to the arcade to being impressed by Resogun at 30 years old, gaming is a very important part of my life and the 20% off discount makes it even better. I understand here on the forums only a handful of select users are voicing their desire to see this happen but there are thousands around the nation that feel this same way. For me, the next generation brings about the proper advent of digital distribution of games. And I love having the convenience of not needing to switch discs between games on the One and PS4, which especially comes in handy when using the Remote Play feature on the PS4 with the Vita. But the discount only applying to retail based copies is holding back that dream. ONE of the best examples out here is the recent push by Microsoft on lowering the digital prices of Ryse on the Xbox Live Marketplace, there's no box to pay for, no physical materials and developers/publishers are now understanding that consumers want and should have these savings passed down to them. Another is Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes. Konami has kept the price of the digital copy lower than retail since announcement and now has made all copies available for sale at the lower price point. But the discount not being on digital games has made the lower digital price worthless to all GCU members. Why should we buy a $30 digital Metal Gear Solid V game when our GCU discount let's us get a physical copy for $24? Digital copy is costing MORE in fact in this sense. Before when the retail was $39.99 forfor MGS V Ground Zeros and $29.99 for digital. I, and I'm sure many others like me, were going to still get the digital copy off the PSN Store for $30 flat (no tax on digital games) instead of getting the physical for $32 (after $8 discount from the 20% GCU). So you see, the scenario here is one of the first and there are yet many to come. Digital distribution for many this generation is the exclusive method of their preferred choice of gaming and Best Buy not having their discount include digital games is holding back those gamers from truly enjoy being Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked Members. I know that price adjustments on digital games if sold in store is possible. I recently had Best Buy price match Amazon/Walmart who had Killzone Shadow Fall on sale both digital and retail copies for 47.99 which happens to be the cost for GCU members if we use our 20% off discount. I want to petition for Best Buy to update their policy and allow GCU 20% off discount to be applicable to digital purchases too. Ending this exclusion would be THE addition to make this GCU membership invaluable to us. I thank you for your time Allan. And everyone else who read. Here's to healthy change!

I would love for this to happen.  Espscially for PC games which do not have the same presence in store or in saome case have no physical presence at all.

@Allan-BBY Allan, just wanted to add that I much prefer digital games for this generation. To date, the only non-digital game I have purchased was Watch Dogs PS4, and that was yesterday when I bought GCU from my local Best Buy. If Best Buy does adopt the 20% off on digital titles it is very likely I will purchase most of my "must have" new release games through Best Buy.
