Additional Tier For Calender Year Purchases

Status: Tell Us More
by on ‎02-02-2016 07:39 PM

I'm pretty sure I spend more then the ole' 3,500$ per year for Elite Plus status. I think another Tier maybe in the 5,000$ range would be great for both sides. The consumer would get maybe 1, or 2 extra beneifits on top of the others like Free Acess to Gamers Club for that year. Free 1yr Subscription to @gamer Magazine. Point's for Financing *Only for 6 months 249$ and under Financing. 1 Day shipping. Best buy will get more revenue out of the continued purchases beyond the normal 3,500$ from consumers. I believe alot of customers will work toward the benefit's of 1 Day shipping to even increase the amount needed for this top Tier. Also Elite and Elite plus names could be renamed with the final 3rd Tier as the Elite Gold, Diamond, Elite.

I believe a similar idea was posted in the past and it didn't get much traction. Would anyone else like to see this happen? Make sure to vote for an idea if you like it.

I'm all for this. I probably give about 25% of my paycheck back to Best Buy and I would love an additional tier for rewards members. Remember to vote for an idea if you like it!

I would say go all the way up to $7500 or $10000 and call it My Best Buy Elite Premier. Benefits wise, it wouldn't really need to offer too much more. I view a new tier more as a way to distinguish higher spenders from the rest. Some benefits I would like included:

  • 35-50% point bonus - #1 benefit for a new tier.
  • 60 day returns.
  • Free GCU is nice.
  • Elite Premier Access to BF and other sales and events.

Imho there isn't enough distinction between Elite and Elite Plus, both tiers share event access and even the same phone number for support. So a third tier would really need to elevate the experience and truly recognize high spend members.

@ Allan, are you saying there was no traction from previous requests based off the lack of customer feedback via kudos or BestBuy higher ups not being interested in expanding the spending tiers?

@ enuf, I can say making any change to our My Best Buy program will be extremely difficult to get implemented. That doesn't mean we won't change it. This idea has four posts and four votes; yes, I would need a lot more than that before I could forward it on.

@SwiftNinja They eliminated @gamer for everybody a few years ago or so. I don't see them bringing it back and if they brought it back and/or gave GCU away free to 'big spenders' I'd be the first on this board to voice my displeasure with that. EVERY customer should be valued, not just those who spend their cash all frivolously. Not to mention they seem to have quietly eliminated the double RZ points on trade-ins perk that was supposed to be a part of the GCU. So if anything this company likes steal...errr...taking away perks from programs rather than adding them. Personally I'm still a fan of the idea of this company giving a REAL return period to we lowly under $1500 a year customers. Kmart, Target, WalMart and really every other retailer gives you AT LEAST 30 days. So why not here?

Perhaps they could do something like this but if it is for corporate or business purchases they should not get a special tier.

Despite all the grumbles about being a valued customer based on rewards, this company still has one of the BEST rewards programs.

Target has a good program as well.  An instant 5% off on purchases with their program.  HOWEVER, I never have and I never will purchase consumer electronics valued over $50 from Target because I know Best Buy will do a much better job standing behind it.

For a while Kmart and/or Sears had a decent rewards program. Many times you could buy an item(sometimes almost completely with their points) and then you would get the same amount of points back to 'roll' towards the next purchase. But lately their points have all sorts of exclusions and ridiculous criteria you have to meet($5 off $50 purchase with 2/3's of the store excluded). But for a while I was making out like a bandit. And how the heck do you guys actually make line breaks? I still cannot figure that out for the life of me. lol

I looked back at recent ideas and the one that talks about tiers involves the gamers club none with mybest buy rewards. I think best buy does it good by making the rewards free of charge for ALL customers and rewards the ones that are frequent shoppers but me and some others on the other hand make best buy the only store we go to for any and all tech. I never even walk into another store no reason to best buy will price match most items from major retailers i can say i spend at most 5 grand annually and some years border 6 grand thanks to financing and 6 to 24 months no interest. Id take at least one benefit if it shows that im in another tier lol

If you had the type of reps like we have in the closest Best Buy store here you'd change your tune pretty quick. At least one of the girls working the front desk for customer service seems to take joy in denying price matches. So that's a big reason why I haven't even bothered going to try and match anything lately, since I know it'll be denied and it will have been a waste of time and gas going there.
