Add My Best Buy "Achievements" for completing certain task that reward customers with bonuses

While the name should probably be something less of a rip-off of Xbox the idea is similar in a way. Think achievements on Xbox 360, in that a reward is given for accomplishing a certain task. This could even be a largely holiday based promotion; though year round would be better in my opinion.

The range is pretty grand on what these "accomplishments" could be. Some ideas: Make 10 purchases (say over $10) in a month and get 500 bonus points. Spend $500 in one month and get 1000 bonus points, reach “Elite Plus Status” and receive 1500 bonus points, etc. Some easy low fruit as well to get people started like, "Share to Facebook" type stuff for 25 points or 50 points, “check in” to a store on the Best Buy app for the first time and get 50 points, first “In Store Pick Up” order for 30 points, etc.  Kind of like how Best Buy gives points for a certain amount of product reviews per year.  My Best Buy bonus points that are often related to, but not directly the result of a specific purchase. They don’t have to be all points either. For example, maybe buy 5 games and get a 10% off coupon for a single video game purchase that would work with sale prices or the GCU discount. Another idea, spend over $300 in a single purchase get coupon for 5X points on a single purchase. Achievements could even occasionally be product based, similar to current offers like "500 bonus points when you buy Beats." So on, as the options are pretty much endless.

Basically, little (to maybe even some big) bonus achievements built into My Best Buy's current system that customers can "unlock" for extra rewards.

Want to see how vested a customer becomes when they have achievements/badges? Look up the sites of customers who are locked out of their Live accounts or if they are banned. Something so simple does add customer loyalty. I would imagine that if .05% of all BB customers spent an extra $20 in a year just to hit the next achievement level, you are talking about a quick ROI.

Fourty is getting my thoughts exactly. People get oddly obssessive about "unlocking" a reward and often spend more than they get from the reward to do so.

If even a small percentage of the user base does this it significantly increases ROI as Fourty has said. If a notable percentage just simply partakes in the program casually it is already set up to be mostly to the benefit of Best Buy anyway so they are already winning. Taking into account the small percentage who will get a little obsessed with it makes it an even more pratical idea, thanks Fourty.

Completely agree on people being OCD about getting rewards & this will defintely affect a persons purchasing habits. A person will overpay to unlock a reward & once unlocked the cycle continues. This principal can be found in various forms in the 1st link BB just needs to get stuff put in place.

I also agree on getting coupons in conjunction with the achievements baseline offers that increase with spending more. This allows BB to convert 1 sale into 2 along with targeted promos that lead to sales outside of the intial purchase niche. Turning a game sale or trade in into a tablet or tv sale or a cell phone purchase into a laptop purchase etc.

There`s gaming & trade in targeted offers & ones that allow the customer to purchase coupons for what they need/want listed in the links below

I agree there are some similar concepts in all three of your linked ideas, and your "tier" rewards system idea is something I'm fond of and think should exist one way or another (it is kind of a rudimentary version of my thought and I admit, helped to spur this idea).

Part of my thought is that not only would this idea work as a stand alone system, but many if not most of the current promotions through My Best Buy or other ideas being considered could essentially be folded into one concept. Instead of just having "tiers" along the way to reaching Elite Plus they become achievements (or even using your verbage of Milestones which has a good ring to it). In the end they become part of a larger overall achievement/milestone system that makes the current My Best Buy rewards system not just more rewarding but more interactive and almost game like in a way.

As I said in my original post, the options are essentially endless. There could be rewards for watching product videos, specific purchases, accumulated purchases, reaching certain status on your account and so on.

Imagine the potential of making My Best Buy not just rewarding but just a little addictive too!

Unless MS has a copyright/trademark on achievements it`s a good look for BB too. They can have a "shopping list" type format of 50-100 shopping achievements. Once set parameters are met the rewards become available. If BB can get a system in play that rewards for every product they sell they put their competition against the ropes. You got a winner in regards to applying Facebook/Twitter w/i the rewards structure that will allow customers to become very vocal "sponsers" for BB & reach alot of people. In fact, BB should partner with them if possible have people post their "man cave" & "ultimate game room" pics with items purchased at BB.

It`s too bad that the marketing reps don`t visit the ideax threads 3 or 4 times a yr just to fully interact with us seems like they`d learn alot & get alot out of it. And it`s free would only cost them time 10-15 hours a yr probably would be the best return on their time.

LOL 101 achievements they give you 50 pts for linking your Facebook/Twitter/Instagram & making a purchase of at least $10. "1 down 100 to go" If a person makes 100 purchases in BB in a yr there should be some type of reward.(Obviously, a 1 per day limit would need to be put in place to prevent cheating).

I'm for this reward idea, as a big spender at best buy this would be a much added benefit for elite plus members and my best buy members alike.
