I keep seeing promotion after promotion for 3X My BB pts on cameras, cell phones, bladeless fans, dvd pre-orders & washer/dryers but why no love for video game systems. Since we don`t get the 2x My BB on systems thru GCU already at least throw us a bone with a 5x pt promo. And I say 5x not 3x because for all the other items you`re not already investing $120 to get access to the deal. These are $200-$500 items that should generate a good amount of warranties along with other add on sales so they deserve to be treated like the other items in the same price points.

I`d suggest marketing the offer in the weekly ad for better exposure & packaging system deals with GCU, premier title releases & accessories(LE ones with game or console).

I fully agree let me explain

As a pc builder ( and gaming specialty sort of ) I can design entire gaming rigs in certain budget ranges for clients of mine. So when they want a 1,000 compute that is AMD based I compare prices between Newegg, BB, and a couple of other stores that are reputable. (Sadly,  normally hardware wise Bb doesn't get the business ) 

If there was enough of a rewards program that saved me money in the long run but at the same time to keep it competitive for the store then it would be more tempting for people like myself who run businesses to buy here, and use the reward points to claim later on further purchases. 

I.e. if you was to carry the Titan Black gpu for 1050 instead of 1,000 but have 5x points I would pay $50 extra but I would get some of those dollars back for future purchases. This is an excellent selling point and I would encourage BB to look into it. 

Furthermore, I would have a point scale. Like for example 3x points up to so high, 5 x up to so high of a price range, 8x points up to a price range. When you are building a pc and if you buy all parts at BestBuy that can become some major money. ( I.e. only happened once but we had a client who wanted a monster of a gaming rig once and he spent like $5,500 man that was fun!)

I would say the multiplier should depend on the cost of the console rather than a straight up 5x. I was kind of surprised that there is no console bonus with GCU though.

Since systems are generally a one & done I`d go with the 5x as a sure thing. All of them have a chance for a warranty add on & being able to score game add ons or accessories will bolster the promo.

With Microsoft announcing a price cut for XB1 in June that would be the time to input this promo scoring $400 sales, warranty add ons, games/accessories & possibly GCU subs too. Add in all the E3 news it`ll be all gaming excitement for a while.

I bet it comes down to how much margin is on a system.  The margin on a console is probably not nearly as high as it is for some of the items you mentioned.   The store makes good margin on some of those items.  But had read that on things like consoles the store does not make as much as you would think.  They rely on voume to make the money.

@bobbiruchi, correct margins on systems are small which is why I didn`t request this as a benefit for GCU but a promotion limited to GCU members. BB is getting $120 upfront & this ensures the highest priced item(s) wich are generally a 1 time purchase is done at BB. The other benefit for BB is the #'s show add on sales from these are greater the moment a person purchases the system. You`re gonna need something to play & you have a 20% discount already plus high profit items like controlllers, cables, plugs and WARRANTIES. This is also a promotion other stores won`t price match making BB the only player. If they timed it with a price cut, LE bundle, system seller release or BB exclusive bundle sales for that week would be epic.

The My Best Buy team is always considering new promotions, but will not be moving forward on this idea at this time.
