$15 credit for spending $150 on gaming an added Gamer`s Club Unlocked(GCU) benefit

The overwhelming general concensus is that Gamer`s Club Unlocked(GCU) is a great program(arguably the best one out) but at $120 upfront for 2 years a little overpriced. And with benefits/perks of the previous program being reduced or completely eliminated while the upfront cost has increased 4x per year it`s a little underwhelming honestly. Most consumers would accept a price increase even to $120 IF the benefits warranted the increased cost.

Offering $15 credit(750 MyBB points) for every $150 spent on gaming related items would immediately provide tremendous value to GCU along with further encouraging customers to make all of there gaming purchases at BB. This benefit would be a big perk to tip the scale in BB`s favor whenever all thing s are even retailer to retailer. And customers who are aware their $5-$15 away from another $15 and/or about to make purchase that will net another $15 credit would certainly pick up an extra item or two to get the added credit. Plus knowing there`s a 15 day wait for the points to post we`d wanna get the clock started that way when a deal pops up the credit already available.

Another way to put this in place and strengthen GCU could be to allow the pc to auto-generate a $15 BB giftcard when $150 pre-tax is reach in-store/online. If you`re going to allow free Gamer`s club to recieve a simliar benefit it should be less than $15 per $150 & the instant GC option should NOT be available to them. That way you`re rewarding paying members & enticing free members to upgrade to GCU.

@AABrown, every $150 this would be a GCU benefit as opposed to a promotion. After looking over some of the current 20% discount exclusions this would allow BB to gain an edge. If you were to buy a $50 PS+ card, $50 controller & a $60 game($48 w/GCU) you`d need to spend about $2 more on gaming to get the $15 credit or $15 instant GC. If you didn`t add another purchase at that time your next purchase over $2 would trigger a $15 mybb credit & anything over the $2 would then be deducted from the next $150.

In the above scenario, if you spent $155 pre-tax on your next gaming purchase you would get a $15 instant giftcard on the $155 purchase, $15 credit in your mybb account in 15 days for the $2 amount that was previously leftover & another $3 would be leftover for the next $150. If you were to buy a PS4 you would get a $30 instant giftcard & only need to spend another $50 to get another $15 credit.

Now for BB`s protection if a person returned any of the items dropping the total below $150 the amount they receive back would have the $30 deducted from the returned amount first. In some cases I guess the giftcard amount maybe prorated.

Have to chime in with my negativity here!  I don't have anything against this suggestion.  I'd definitely love even more money back for my purchases!  However, I just can't say that the GCU is overpriced and needs better benefits.  The program isn't designed for the casual person who buys 1-2 games a year.

With the 20% off all new titles already putting every game purchase under the actual cost of the game, giving another 10% back just doesn't seem like a fiscally responsible idea.  Right now the company is running 10% back in RZ certs on purchases put on the My Best Buy credit card instead of financing options.  I'd be behind an idea that made that permanent with Gaming/media purchases.

@Dval,.if.you were to ask the 1 million casual or hardcore gamers what`s ths main reason they havem`t and/or won`t join GCU price will be the highest %. Starting tomorrow they`re offering their third 50% off GCU sale in 5 months which shows that the $120 price isn`t meeting expectations. Considering they already have offered existing members the 2 yr sub for $30 or $60 already then there must on be a small handful of full paid members. In order for GCU to survive for the long haul GCU has to be able to stand on it`s own & sell for $120. In it`s current form with the loss of @gamer the 20% off, 10% off & 2x points aren`t enough.

Also, keep in mind this covers all gaming so controllers, cables, hardware...would be included as well. I`ve already created ideax threads dedicated to converting gaming rewards to more profitable items outside of gaming, piggybacking used game sales & even a GCU variation for movies/dvds/media too.

As a GCU member, I already make a lot of my purchases at BB, but I think an added incentive such as this would ensure that I stick with BB to help get up to that limit.

This used to actually be part of the free Gamer's Club when it first started. Was a great promo and would love to see it come back.
