1-Year extension to expiring Premier Silver memberships

Original idea posted by tdpolo26.  For the second year in a row, Best Buy has failed in its attempt to "thank" Premier Silver members with the Early Access Black Friday Event.  Maybe the first year Best Buy was caught off guard and couldn't handle the demand on their site.  But why was Best Buy not prepared this year?  The idea is:  Extend Premier Silver Membership for 1-year to those memberships that are expiring.  I know many have stated that the Early Access is one of the top reasons they wanted to keep the Premier Silver membership.  Because of business reasons, new quantities of products cannot be ordered or unfulfilled transactions made right again.  But with a 1-yr extension Best Buy can make amends with most customers who are very frustrated.

Are you stating we didn't have an Early Access Black Friday Event, and because of this you would like Premiere Silver memberships extended a year? I thought we had an Early Access Event yesterday for Premiere Silver members?

The event did occur. However, the technical difficulties made it impossible for some members to purchase items. The website was down for a few hours at the start of the sale. Even after there were difficulties in placing orders. Items 'sold out' without even showing as available (grayed out coming soon button) to some members. This was a repeat of last year where members did not get what they wanted at no fault of their own. So yes, there was a sales event, if you want to call it that.

@AceJohn, Thanks for the clarification. Would any other Premiere Silver members like their status to be extended for a year due to any challenges they encountered at the Early Access Event we had yesterday 11/19/2012? Remember to vote for an idea if you like it.

Yes.  I think that's the least BB could do.  My status doesn't end until 14 but  I really expected more from this program.  Not trying to begrudge anyone else but why should someone who has purchased a subsidized cell phone or uses a MC to purchase none BB items receive the same "perks" as those who spend thousands in your store?  I have spent triple the minimum amount required to qualify and would have spent  more this holiday season.  Due to the horrible experience with this pre Black Friday sale, I won't be standing outside of any BB this year.

I think it's a great idea and hope to see it.  My membership expires soon.  I'm a few hundred short of making it this year but like the rewards.  But I have still spent over 10k at best buy in the last 3 years. I think that makes me a pretty loyal customer.  Hoping to keep it for 2013

Same here. For me the website showed that same message the entire day of "we were expecting snow but we got a blizzard please allow us some time to clear a path" The ending of that quote might not be word for word the that message was displayed to me the entire day starting at 10:59am eastern standard time. When I was finally able to access the site it was super slow and clicking on a item took minutes to load only to find it already sold out thus missing out on the many things I was planning to pick up for myself and then as gifts for others. I think a year addition to silver members memberships would be the least Best Buy could do as even us silver members have lost benefits over the years despite having spent the required $2,500 minimum a year if not thousands more to retain our benefits and also support Best Buy. For example why did it change from spending $150 to get a $5 certificate to having to spend $250? Why if we are silver members can we not get comped access to gamers club unlocked membership? Even if we pay for gamers club unlocked status why have they taken away the main attraction of that program which was for every $150 you spend on gaming hardware/software/accessories you would receive a $10 certificate or 500 bonus points. These points were in addition to your regular benefits and bonus points/offers etc. Also why is it so hard to redeem rewardzone offers in store without being looked at like we are trying to steal from said store? For instance I went to Best Buy Cherry Hill, NJ #1098 and I was attempting to purchase the metal gear solid hd collection for ps vita. When I went to check out at the gaming register the game scanned at full price and did not have the $10 off that game offer come up or apply to it like the rewardzone offer said it would. When I asked the associate about it they said it probably expired and that its the price displayed. I proceeded to show them the offer details thanks to the rewardzone app on my phone detailing the offer and the experation date which was days away. I waited while they used their walkie talkie system to ask for a manager to help. No manager ever showed so they proceeded to take off the game then attempt to scan it again telling me they would fix it so I could be on my way. I was busy trying to help bag my items as I had already been in the store longer than I thought would be necessary and was now late for picking up someone from work and had to now deal with traffic. Low and behold when looking at my receipt in the car while sitting in traffic I see that they did not take care of it and I had been charged the full price even after showing the offer. This of course kinda added to the fustration of sitting in traffic knowing that even with proof I had been ignored and to make matters worse the coupon I received from a @gamers magazine I get with the gamers club unlocked membership I paid for was thrown in the bag too and the $15 off a playstation plus membership was charged full price to me as well. That made me a little more ticked so after picking up my brother who I was now late about a hour to get went an sat in traffic in attempts to get the Best Buy in Mt. Laurel, NJ #0583 to fix the issue that should have never been there to begin with and cost me much more of my time/energy/gas and overall enjoyment of the products I go out of my way to purchase at Best Buy. I could go on but I have noticed that this has become a rather long comment. I would gladly welcome a message from a moderator for Best Buy as I have had many other fails and headaches as of late which is starting to try my want to continue to go the extra mile to keep my business with Best Buy and would rather not type out dozens of complaints on the message boards here.

I agree. It is very frustrating to have planned to take advantage of the early access only to have it crash and end up scrambling.  Also improved communications between best buy and members.  I get deal of the day emails but did not get anything about the member presale or other perks for silver members.

I myself could not order anything from BB.com during the event and to be frank, I have no reason to go into Best Buy stores on a regular basis now that the Blu-Ray section has been reduced as those were the majority of my purchases. What Best Buy should have done was provide two-hour early store access on Black Friday to RZPS members so we could have gone into a store and taken advantage of our membership to make purchases without the crazy rush of Black Friday shoppers. That would have been a great thing to do.
