Re: iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max FAQ

My order switched from preparing to Ready to Pick Up, I think everyone that preordered will get their iPhone tomorrow. This iPhone release was overpriced for many and such there was plenty of stock days after the preorder went live, which is unusual for any new iPhone release by now in the past you would be getting your iPhone by late December. But as Tim Cook recently said, Apple is not about selling the most, but selling the best iPhone (bunch of balony), Apple would not be a trillion dollar company if it did not sell millions of iPhones. If this price trend continues and with the cell phone providers offering NO incentives, people will most likely be keeping their devices for longer periods. I have been one to upgrade every year when you could get a new iPhone for $199 with a 2 year agreement (I have 2 lines, so I would stagger upgrading), but now I might have to adopt an every 2 year cycle instead. Hope everyone gets their orders on time tomorrow.

Re: iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max FAQ

Hi, I pre-ordered an iPhone XS Max on 9/14 and all week Best Buy guaranteed delivery by 9/21. Today, my order was updated with the following statement,

“We're sorry – your ordered item(s) are taking longer to fulfill than we anticipated.

Please be assured we'll continue to work on this order, and once the item(s) become available we will let you know. If we are not able to complete your order by October 21, 2018, we will notify you and cancel the item(s).”

Current hold times with customer service or more than 2 hours. Trying to get some more information about this delay.

Re: iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max FAQ

Yes same boy here except I got the email last night at 11:55pm. First and last time I preorder with Best Buy I’ll just stick to ordering it with my carrier.

Re: iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max FAQ

I pre-ordered on 9/18 after chatting with Best Buy’s customer service who said it’d be available for pick up on launch day. My order status was “In Progress” for with a pickup date of 9/21 as of 10:30am ET. I never got an email, text or phone call from Best Buy. I did speak with chat reps after I read the horror stories from last year, they all assured me that my phone would be available for pickup today.

This morning, I noticed that my Verizon 256GB Xs Max was listed as being in stock for store pickup today. I still did not receive any communication from Best Buy. My coworker ordered online and after an hour or so got a pickup email. I wound up cancelling my pre-order and my wife picked up a phone from another store who had it in stock.
I think Best Buy is intentionally misleading in their pickup and delivery estimates. It’s pretty clear that stores are selling to walk-ins as a guaranteed sale before fulfilling pre-orders, and hoping that most who pre-order do not cancel like I did. I hope Best Buy changes how they distribute their stock in the future, this is not a good look for them.

Re: iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max FAQ

I preordered from bestbuy as well. Just got the email saying it’s delayed and will be cancelled by Oct 21st if not in stock by then.

Bestbuy is misleading their preorder process. Why even bother with a preorder if it’s not a live assessment of inventory. I opted for pickup over delivery to prevent theft on delivery.

I have multiple orders/preorders planned starting in 2 weeks ramping up for birthdays, anniversary’s, Christmas. I am looking towards target, Amazon, and Walmart now as at least I know they will deliver what they’ll promise. Never again will I utilize bestbuy.

Re: iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max FAQ

What’s the point of preordering if I cannot pick it up release date? Terrible service, and why cancel it if you cannot fill it?

Re: iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max FAQ

Hi, this is a question for the mod...

I want to take advantage of the AT&T BOGO offer by acquiring two iphone Xs.  This will require that I purchase a new line, which is okay.  It will also require me to pay for the difference on the second phone between the highest credit amount phone (64 gig iphone 8) and the iphone Xs.  I want to pay the difference with BB gift cards I have, but when I was at Best Buy yesterday, the reps helping me said I cannot do that.  They insisted that all payments had to be by monthly installments on my monthly bill for the new line.

When I went to the AT&T store today, they didn't agree with this and said I should be able to pay the difference in cash so long as I continued to make payments on the new line.  They pointed out that many customers are required to make down payments so there is a way to pre-pay part of the phone.  They thought maybe I was dealing with a junior rep who doesn't really know how the system works.

So, what is the answer? Can I or can I not?

Re: iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max FAQ

Hey @a8bil,

You are welcome to request to put a voluntary downpayment on the second iPhone XS. Whatever amount you choose is payable via Best Buy gift cards in part or in full.,

Thanks...any secret I can use to convince the local rep this can be done? Maybe I have to go to a different store?
