I understand what you are saying..But on the website..Its mention as Pre-Order it now and Pick up at stores on release day...if they are not sure of the inventory..they should not advertise like this...This is very misleading for the BestBuy loyal customers

Exactly what I am saying. Only reason I went with them. Regardless I will be waiting in line at the local AT&T tomorrow morning, and if I get a call by 8 am I will go with best buy, otherwise I will purchase through AT&T.

I disagree that it's misleading. Their expectations are they will have enough for everyone on release day, but things happen sometimes. Something doesn't get shipped right, boxes are mispacked, etc.
For you to read that and fully 100% expect that nothing could possibly happen to affect that in the slightest is naive on your part.

Well I have also called in before ordering and they told me I will have mine on launch day..so Thats why I will be upset

If I call and you tell me I am GUARANTEED a phone on friday then I found out it's not, its misleading. Alot of people including myself were told this directly from employees of best buy so yes I would be under the impression that I'd be able to get my phone on friday if someone told me that.... This isn't about trying to tell people that they should and or shouldn't be upset. This is about people who were told something and simply want to know when they will be able to get the device they paid for simple as that.

How can you EXPECT a GUARANTEE on something that isn't in their possession yet? Why do you have to have a guarantee? Will your world end if you do not get a iPhone on launch day? If you would like guarantees of getting a phone on launch day I hear Samsung's are pretty good about having several available with just walking in. You could probably even get an HTC if you like. It's like this EVERY YEAR with the new iPhone, and for you to still expect a guarantee of getting one on launch day is absurd. Even more absurd is the fact you will hold Best Buy responsible if they don't get enough at a specific store to get you one.

I'm pretty sure that corporate does not condone the local store guaranteeing someone something they cannot guarantee, but like most corporations they cannot control what a local sales rep says to try to get a sale and make you feel better about your pre order.
The website is geared towards what they expect, however there a places (first post of this thread), that clearly explain they don't know what they will actually recieve at each store, but will get the pre orders handled first as inventory is received.
AT&T does the same exact thing.

Idk why you're turning this into some crazy mess. I also do not know why you are concerned with other people's feelings or intents or whatever. Yes if someone from best buy tells me it's gauranteed I would expect for it to be gauranteed. How they go about that I have no idea. If you must know i'm in college and was coming home to pick up my phone so if I'm not going to be able to get it friday i'm not about to waste time and gas driving hours away. Not that it was any of your buisness but you seem to be making assumptions about people's situations. This post is supposed to be for people to get help and ask questions. Not for people to criticize people because they don't agree with what they have to say i'm sure there's a facebook page for that. I also wouldn't know if it was like this EVERY year so again you assuming things you don't know....

You are clearly criticizing Best Buy for something they don't have control over. Your situation is none of my business, but there are several ways to get these phones, not just Best Buy hours away from your school. If you don't get an e-mail or phone call don't waste your gas. Although I hope your parents don't read that as it would probably hurt their feelings that the only reason you were coming home was to get an iPhone. (FUNNY comment to lighten the mood) I hope you didn't choose Best Buy because a sales person at the store guaranteed your something.
