I have a More Everything (not unlimited) plan from Verizon, an older plan. A Verizon rep told me that if I upgrade my current phone with a phone I buy from Best Buy at a monthly payment option that my older plan will also be upgraded.
Is this true, or will my current plan remain the same?

We would never force a customer to change their plan, but if the plan they have isn't available in our systems to choose we wouldn't be able to sign them up for the same plan they had. I have been advised that your current plan is still an available option in our system so you should be good to go if you want to keep that plan while getting a new phone from us.

I have an older More Everything plan from Verizon which is $40/mo per line, but provides a discount of $15 to $25/mo called the Device Payment Plan (DPP) discount. Does anybody know for sure whether paying monthly for a Verizon phone at Best Buy would allow me to have that DPP discount?

I don't know for sure but my guess is that this could work for you as I was told that we do offer the More Everything plan still. My best suggestion is to go to your local Best Buy store and talk to the mobile associates there to see what your options are.

activating phone on an exisiting plan does not change your plan.
The phone companies are slowly making you pay the bigger bucks for unlimited plans.
Right now for a single phone Verizon has two plans
5GB and unlimited
$40 a month or $80 a month.

I work as Verizon Expert at Best Buy store.
From my expereince, going all the way back to More Everything, I've never seen any issue with being forced to change plan. If you have More Everything Plan, you are fine. With that $15 Line Access Fee, I suggest you to keep your old plan! But keep in mind, New Verizon Plan does prevent you from getting overcharge if you go over your data limit. So depending on which is more important to you. Upgrading to new plan where you will have $20 Line Access Fee and no overcharge for going over does sound nice. If you haven't gone over your data plan, then keep More Everything!
