I have a LG G6 smartphone Android. My question is what is a type-c to type-A USB cable? I have a 3 foot cable and I need at least a 6 ft. The end that plugs into the phone is Type-C. The other end is a regular USB. Is a regular USB end that plugs into the charger called a type-A ? Or is a type -A different?

It is the big usb to a small usb.  or micro usb.  Your phone has a slot for the micro usb.  The regular size usb end typically plugs into your charger.

Thanks but the micro USB is called a USB-C. It goes into the bottom of the phone. The other end goes into the charger. What's that end of the cable called? Just a regular end or is it called "A"? I'm looking to order a 6 foot USB-C cable with the other end of the cable is USB-A? Or that's another adapter needed?

Or do they? Some have USB-A and USB-C. Is an A end mean it's a regular USB end but their called an A connector or is "A" different adapter for the charger?

I am sorry if I wasn't clear. USB-A is the designation of a port/connector that is the "normal USB" size, while a USB-C port/connector is a smaller size. Yes, a USB-A end to a cord means it is a "regular" USB connector that will fit into a charger or computer port.
