I'm not sure if this is explained somewhere, but if I order my new phone from you and choose to have it shipped (it isn't in stock near me), will my current phone continue to work until I get the new phone?

Your current phone should continue to work for you until you activate the new phone with your number.
Be sure to back up your phone first. Though many phones now have automatic back up.
