Hi, and sorry having absolutely no knowledge in this area.
Yesterday I got a new phone at a Verizon store because I was due for an upgrade and they now have me paying full price for the phone over the next 24 months. I'm feeling ripped off and just learned that Best Buy has much better prices on phones.
Is it possible for me to return the phone I just got back to Verizon, I'm sure there's a fee, and then go to a Best Buy and buy my new phone there with me still being a member of the family plan I'm currently on? Would this change the bill for my plan/account holder? Would I still be on the same plan I'm currently on? The only difference would be I'm upgrading to a new phone at Best Buy vs a Verizon store correct?
Any answers or help would be appreciative!

No matter where you get the phone you pay it off over the next 24 months. It has nothing to do with Best Buy. Seems the major carriers do it this way. If you read your bill closly you will see you are paying a monthly fee for your phone. Kind of a lease to own. Funny thing is though I have had phones longer than the 24 month period and they won't stop charging you for it until you tell them.

Most carriers have the same return period for cell phones as we do, 14 days, although I would encourage you to check with your carrier for any restocking fees or charges you may incur for the activation. If you wish to return the phone to Verizon and make the purchase through us, you should be able to do so without a problem! Our systems will communicate with Verizon's to pull up your current account and plan, and process any active upgrades.
With that said, you should keep in mind that many carriers are moving towards the installment billing plans, which is essentially financing the phone over a predetermined period of time. At first, it often seems like a poor idea, as you would be adding to your monthly bill. However, when combining installment billing plans under specific service plans, your carrier may provide you a discount on the service plan. This helps offset the cost of the phone each month. Many (not all) customers find this to be quite a deal, as only taxes are generally due at the time of purchase and you may pay off the remainder of the balance for the phone early if you wish to upgrade sooner.
I hope this helps!

Thanks for the answers Tasha!
Verizon did give me a discount on my service plan because I'm paying off the phone over the next 24 months. If I were to upgrade at Best Buy would I still get a discount on my service plan? Or is that only an option when upgrading at a Verizon store?
Thanks for your help!

Yes! You should still receive this discount when upgrading through us, provided you don't change your plan to a non-qualifying one, of course.
