I bought unlocked iphone 7 at Mayfield Heights store last year. Recenlty i switch to another service (H2O which uses AT&T carrier) proivder. With new SIM my phone started showing it is locked and need activiation. For follow up i checked with previous sim (lyca mobile) service provider, apple support, new (H2O) service provider. All inverigation is leading towards that phone is locked by T mobile carrier which i never used directly. When checked with T mobile they said they can not do anything since phone is bought at Best buy and they do not have enough detail to unlock the phone. I visited best buy store twice but it did not work out so far. Was i sold locked phone instead of unlokced?

Unlocked phones can be a bit tricky sometimes, and I hope I can help explain a few things for you. The models of the iPhone that we sell in our stores are meant for usage on a particular carrier most of the time. Being that you had purchased an iPhone 7, I imagine that this was a pre-owned or refurbished item, is that correct? This may be due to the usage of the phone before purchase.
If this was purchased as new, I'd love to take a deeper look and see what may be going on. Let us know what other questions or concerns you have.
Thanks!
