The smartphone industry is plateauing, I've heard this so many times. The notch is fine, the notch is , heard that too. The headphone jack is going away, in time.. All this is common talk here. These days, it seems like OEMs are making the same sort of phones, all of them, and for all the wrong reasons. But that's a separate debate.
We talk about USPs like a killer camera, or superb displays, or new tech like UD fingerprint.. But is there any brand which has reliability, or continued software support, or better battery capacity (and life), and aftermarket support options? Those should be considered USPs too, along with (unfortunately) the headphone jack. But there's simply nobody who wants to talk about that. I'd been waiting to buy a OnePlus 6T, but that thought went out the window when I heard they'll do away with the jack.
So right now, there's no OEM providing all those things. You may say these are minor things, but I'm sure they matter to a LOT of people. I'd want to have a phone that works fine through that 2 year mark. I'd also want the battery to work properly. And if the company can't provide official support after 2 years (understandable), atleast let the tech community handle things with Custom ROMs.

Very well pointed out. To me the two bigger brands of cell phone, Apple and Samsung, tend to focus on their grass being greener on the new phone over the old phone. I watched the video releas of the new iPhones and was terribly underwhealmed. Granted I like a good camera on my phone, but cameras have been great on cell phones for years.
