Re: Sim card Transfer

If it is possible it would have to be the same carrier.

The new phone needs to be unlocked

You need to get your old phone unlocked.  In order to do that you need to contact the phones provider. There are various requirements that need to be met before a phone can be unlocked.  Such as it belongs to your carrier, account is in good standing, the phone has not been reported stolen, your SSN and password, etc.  And it works best if your still a customer with your carrier.  Unlocking can take  up to a week.

There are a number of other steps and procedures.  That need to happen.

They do not make it a painless process.  Simply becuase phones can get stolen and a sim card could simply be inserted in a stolen phone and  used if it was to easy.

Re: Sim card Transfer

Andrioid phones usually will have a smart switch app that you can use in order to obtain all the information off the previous phone. Although I'm not sure how they'll work on these phones that you've provided, I would wait for a MOD to reply to this or visit your nearest bestbuy store for this particular information.

To my knowledge they could even help you do the transfer if they're not too busy as well!

Although I do work as a Best Buy Sales Associate for Connected Home, anything I post or comment on are based upon my own opinions, and do not reflect Best Buy whatsoever.

Re: Sim card Transfer

That was my next thought.  If you purchase the phones from Best Buy your best bet is to have the associate transfer everything.

Thanks. And that makes a lot of sence if it were that easy.

Re: Sim card Transfer

Hi AngelBender,

It looks like you've gotten some pretty good information already! Both phones generally must be unlocked before you can transfer a SIM, and they must work on the same type of network, which is most easily done by choosing a phone with the same carrier.

At this time, I would encourage you to contact your carrier or visit a local Best Buy to speak with a Mobile Sales Associate for assistance with this. If you should have any questions, please let me know!

Sincerely,
