ok I called verizon and talked to them. They were much more helpful and got the issue remedied no questions asked. So if anyone gets turned away by the Verizon store you may want to be persistent that it is in fact honored by Verizon and maybe they should call customer service to verify.

This happened to me too, ordered two phones on 9/13,promised delivery 9/15, got the email order delayed and would be canceled if not shipped by 9/29.  I called Verizon 9/18, phones were in stock, I canceled the Best Buy order, lost the $150 for each phone, received the order from Verizon THE NEXT DAY!. I really wanted to work with Best Buy but kept getting the run around.
