I have a question about the Samsung Galaxy S9 pre-order. I am going to be pre-ordering the S9 for Verizon thorugh Best Buy but unfortunately will be away from my local Best Buy on 3/2/2018. I was wondering if I can pre-order the phone online and still qualify for the $100 savings and then pick the phone up at my local best buy to do the set up and trade in of my old phone?
I was told that I can only pre-order the phone in store but your S9 FAQs on the forums say I can pre-order online starting 3/2/2018.
My second question is if I trade in my Galaxy S6, will that be applied to the cost of the S9 or will I receive a seperate gift card?
Thanks in advanced.

Would it be possible to clarify some of the fine print on this offer?
As many folks likely are still in contract (ex. 1 year left on an S8) what is the process for trade-in in this scenario?
The fine print notes that the trade-in value is paid via Best Buy Gift Card; can this be immediately used towards the phone purchase? If so, how does this work if the phone payments will be part of a contract?
Thank you!

I need an explict confirmation on the wording here.
the pre order is 3/2. this I understand.
The friday only (3/2) additional $100 off for a "trade in" means exactly what?
since we are only preordering on 3/2 when do I turn in my phone?
here is the key question: "IN STORE ONLY" means for the additional pre-order discount on 3/2?
In other words I must do the preorder in the store on friday 3/2?
OR does this means I can pre order online on 3/2 then pickup my phone "IN STORE ONLY" AND still get the extra $100 off.
short version: IF we are preordering only WHY do I need to be in store on friday 3/2 to get the extra $100 off?

Hello geekofband007,
While the option to create your pre-order is certainly available online and in-store, the $100 savings are only valid for pre-orders created in store.
In regards to the trade-in savings, you will receive a separate Best Buy gift card. It cannot be used to be used towards the purchase of the phone but can be used in any other manner you wish.
Respectfully,

Hello wargy2,
In order to partake in the trade-in portion of this promotion, you must have complete ownership of your device as you would be trading it in to Best Buy in exchange for a gift card. Any outstanding debt on the phone would be the responsibility of the account holder.
Unfortunately the gift card cannot be used towards the purchase of you’re the S9 or S9+.

Thanks for clarifying about Trade-Ins. I don't need a $300 gift card to spend of other stuff, I was hoping the price for the phone will be reduced by the trade in amount. Let me ask you this... If I'm willing to trade In my phone at the time of preorder, meaning on Friday, March 2nd I can actually turn it in and use another, older phone I have until the new one comes in... And if I'm willing to pay up front and not finance the device, can I use a trade in gift card on Friday and pay the rest out of pocked to preorder and take advantage of that extra $100 off?

Good morning everyone,
I'm happy to inform you all that i've received an update from my support team confirming that the gift card provided for trading in a qualifying phone CAN be used (with the exception of Sprint Lease) towards the purchase of the phone! This offer is currently only valid for in store pre-orders/activations.
As always, should you have any questions, plesae feel free to post them here!
