I have Verizon and my dad, who is the account holder, ordered me a new phone through BestBuy but it's registered with our Verizon plan already. Since this is the case, I'm unsure whether I'll be able to activate it home myself or if I will need to go in to either BestBuy or Verizon to have that done? My dad said he wasn't sure as the BestBuy associates activated his phone for him in the store when he bough it, but since this is an online purchase he's not sure how that works. Can someone help me? I don't know if it matters but I'm just going from an iPhone 8 to the new XS Max, same phone number, line, and everything.
Thanks in advance!

You should be able to activate it yourself in your home.
If he purchased a Verizon iPhone it should come with the SIM card installed.
Just follow the instructions when you turn on the phone for the first time.
You will need to know your apple id and password

Hi there, lilygreenstone,
Welcome to our community forums. I'm sure you're looking forward to start using this new phone!
As bobberuchi mentioned, there should be some instructions included to help you activate this phone once it arrives. In most cases, you won't need to visit your local Best Buy or Verizon store to get this up and running.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Regards,
