Most of my life I have been called a "geek." Several years ago, I "made it official" by becoming a Geek Squad® Agent with Best Buy®. This is perhaps one of my best decisions for I have found Best Buy® to be a wonderful company full of friendly, motivated people with fresh ideas and genuine concern for our customers.
I fondly remember hours spent in the library during my early teens designing with PrintShop or playing King's Quest and Oregon Trail on an Apple IIe. I even programmed a database for my grandfather's collections. Later, I was part of the computer club in High School, along with all the other stereotypical "geek" labels (Band, Speech, Theater tech, etc.); it's where I produced my first animated videos. Once I began college it was "elite-geek" to use VAX systems with token rings and electronic messaging. It's what became the early internet where downloading meant checking back a few days later. Look how far we've come.
When not producing videos for our team or volunteering to instruct seniors on using a computer, I enjoy travel, photography, cooking or reading. I still do graphic design and play the occasional online game (even Oregon Trail) while chatting with friends or researching technology. But there's something to be said about tactile board games with friends, food, and good music. I feel it is important to maintain balance and make time for each other in this technically advanced world.
