mp3 player purchase for 7 yr old girl

I know nothing about these. I was thinking of getting one for my daughter's birthday. I'd like to get one that can take pictures (if they do that) and not spend alot of money. I thought I would go MP3 because of the compatability with our home PC. I was also wondering if there are monthly fees involved with these players or if you just pay as you go???

Thanks for any and all of your help.

This is what everyone is buying when they want a gift for a child that has a camera. It's an all in one device that isn't too expensive to replace when it gets lost/broken.

Just a headphone jack from what I can tell.
