Re: iPod Touch/iTouch Basic Warranty Info. I need help.

Maybe the CSR thought you were talking about an iPod touch. The iPhone GSBTP covers everything the normal GSBTP covers plus drops and spills not caused by negligence or abuse.

Re: iPod Touch/iTouch Basic Warranty Info. I need help.

I originally called about the iPod Touch and was speaking with a woman named Monica.  When I asked about the iPhone, I was put on hold and transferred to Best Buy Mobile Customer Service.  The CSR named Ruby asked about my cell phone contract and confirmed that I was speaking about the iPhone as we have purchased 3 phones from Best Buy in the last year.  And you do not pay $15 a month for an iPod Touch warranty.  Sorry Nokia but she knew exactly what I was talking about.

Well, fortunately, she was incorrect.

Re: iPod Touch/iTouch Basic Warranty Info. I need help.

Well, unfortunately, when I received a phone call from Best Buy confirming that my children's iPods were not covered for accidental damage, I asked AGAIN about my iPhone and was told AGAIN that accidental damage was NOT covered.  So not sure where you are getting your information from Nokia - can I buy the coverage from you because your policy seems much more customer friendly!  :-)   Oh, and Best Buy apologized for the "miscommunication."  Seems to me like everything they say is miscommunication.,,which is why I will no longer shop there as I no longer trust anything they say.

Send it to the CSRs because clearly they are confused.  Appreciate your knowledge but  I'm through with Best Buy - they've lost my trust.

Re: iPod Touch/iTouch Basic Warranty Info. I need help.

Casalima, I had the same issue with my daughters Ipod Touch 8gb.   This was purchased 14 months ago with the BTP for $49.99/2yrs.  I was told that at the time I purchased the ipod touch, the BTP plan DID NOT cover accidental drops.  Therefore, I was S.O.L.  This just happened yesterday and I just got back from the store tonight.  I felt SCAMMED!  They refunded me a pro-rated amount from the plan that I purchased.  all $22.88.  WHOOHOO.

I was so mad and deflated, I left.  Didn't feel it was gonna be appropriate to rip the on duty manager apart.  So, I sent an email to them as soon as I got home.  Read your story.  I doubt I will get anywhere.  But, like you said, they've lost my trust.  I'll keep you posted on the FOAD email they send me.

Re: iPod Touch/iTouch Basic Warranty Info. I need help.

I bought the 32 GB iPod Touch on the 31st of October. Got it with the warranty. sorr I haven't been osting, but I have been reading it. Didn't feel like logging in. Anyways...I hope that in the case of my iTouch being accidentally broken, that they  do infact replace it. If they don't, then I will never shop at ANY Best Buy again. Hope my 70 bucks of warranty didn't got to waste. I also hope my 32 GB iPod Touch doesn't go to waste.

So..... the big question I want to ask is: What does this warranty cover?

Don't give me any of those BS links Nokia. They say one thing now, but mean differant things then.

I don't believe it is possible to not buy the ADH plan for the touch currently, as I believe that is the only plan avaliable. However, as I stated when you originally asked, it is not replaced in-store. It must go through Rapid Exchange, which gets you a refurb in 7-10 business days, or you can have it repaired which can take 2-4 weeks. The GSBTP plan w/ADH covers mfg. defects, dust, heat, humidity, power surge, normal wear and tear, and drops and spills not resulting from negligence or abuse.

Have the links changed recently? I don't see any difference.

I'm confused. You were told at the time of purchase that damage was not covered, but you feel scammed because...what?

Re: iPod Touch/iTouch Basic Warranty Info. I need help.

pstarus - you may have coverage (or you may not! It's the Best Buy way!! Won't know until it's time to pay the piper!) I was told, like cszeman, when we purchased the product (me in 1/09 and 6/09) that accidents were covered. Then when we went back with the damaged iPod, we were told "At the time when you bought your warranty, accidents weren't covered." Apparently they've changed their coverage but seriously, who knows? My son had his iPod Touch all of 3 months (3 MONTHS!!) and we were told that was then, this is now. You were confused by the email Nokia - cszeman and I were scammed. We were told at point of purchase accidents are covered. When we tried to exercise the warranty, we were told at the time of our purchase, accidents were not covered in the warranty. It's called the old bait and switch. And pstarus, I asked the clerk at Best Buy in my fury what the purchased warranty was for - ready? - it covers the EXACT SAME THING as the Apple warranty (for example frozen screen) but instead of having to send it back to Apple, Best Buy would give us a new one. So I asked her who in their right mind would pay for that? Which is why the salespeople lied to consumers and told them accidental damages were covered. Especially when you walked in with children - then they knew they could sell you that bogus warranty. Best Buy has a sweet deal running. By the way, also be cautious of their "restocking fee'...
