iPod Touch--any WiFi issues from users?

I'm thinking of getting an iPod Touch to use as a portable computer/music player (when in WiFi areas). Have you had any issues of really poor WiFi access in the Midwest with iPod Touches? I'm also wondering if I should get the 3rd generation 32GB, or get the 2nd generation 16GB. I currently have an older Nano 16GB, and it's at about 10GB filled with music and music videos currently. If I got the iPod Touch, I would get apps, use the internet frequently, and probably put a few movies and photos on it.

Re: iPod Touch--any WiFi issues from users?

I live in the midwest myself and I have the iPhone 3GS but from what i have been able to tell the wifi chips are the same in both units )3rd gen itouch and 3GS iphone). And I have not had any issues with my wifi. But also if you are looking at getting apps and adding movies go with the 32gig 3rd gen. You cna quickly take up a gig or more in just apps alone. Add another gig per HD TV show you may add. TV shows and Movies will eat up your space quick so even though you may have no intention of keeping them on there as long as you would keep your music i would still go with the more space. Just keep in mind its not the iPhone it wont have the ability to connect to the internet where ever you go. Just in those places that offer free public WiFi access.

Re: iPod Touch--any WiFi issues from users?

bought I-Touch (8gb) strictly for Internet access while traveling.  Have had no wiFi problems anywhere, including the midwest. I do not use for music or would have gone to 32 gb. I think it is great!

Re: iPod Touch--any WiFi issues from users?

I also live in the Midwest, I live a bit farther south that most people would consider Midwest, but I do have the 32gb ipod touch, and have no issues with the Wifi, just like the previous post, you do have to have an available wifi connection, whether it be a public one, or your own. The only issues I have with the Wifi is every once in a while you will get disconnected but that's mainly if you just aren't using it.

Anything i say is not a direct response from Best Buy or Geek Squad. I just post on here to add my insight.

Wifi reliability is not affected by region.
