Should I bother with a Ipod Touch

I have a Windows Phone with a built in mp3 player, although I'm thinking about buying Ipod Touch 4th Generation. Should I bother? The only difference is one has a phone and is ran by Windows and the Ipod is ran by Apple and has a better app store. Now should i bother buying an Ipod?

Re: Should I bother with a Ipod Touch

The main thing you need to think about is where you want your music to come from today and where you want to in the future.

  • Apple products are designed to be tightly coupled with their iTunes store.  Once you purchase music on their iTunes store, you need to stay with Apple products in the future.  It's "Apple-ism"!
  • if your Apple device breaks (drops? lost? stolen? battery wears out?), you need to buy another Apple device.

BTW.... the iTouch does not come with a phone.  The iPhone does.

Re: Should I bother with a Ipod Touch

You don't need to stick with apple products. Since Apple removed their DRM settings years ago its very easy to convert the songs into other formats straight from itunes.

also the op never said the ipod touch came with a phone. he said his Windows Phone is a phone.

Back to the OP it all depends on you. Do you prefer the Apple app store more then the simpler life of carrying only 1 device. Or would you take the added item to give you a better app store. Answer that and you will have your answer.

Re: Should I bother with a Ipod Touch

I would add another consideration:

If you buy an iPod, or any Apple device, you will have to subject yourself and your computer(s) to the true horror that is iTunes...quite simply the worst piece of software ever written.  Horrible interface...you are constrained on how and where you can store *your* data, and youy have far fewer format choices with an Apple device than you do with a Windows or an Android device.  As you can tell from the tone of this post, I, like millions of others, hate iTunes, but it is a fact of life if you are going to own an Apple product.

I disagree with the comment about the worst piece of software ever written. That title still proudly goes to MS for their wonderful contribution to the PC in that floating turd they called Windows ME.

Re: Should I bother with a Ipod Touch

Okay, I'll call it a tie.  Windows ME and iTunes both share the distinction of being the worst software ever written :smileywink:
