I've been looking for an MP3 player that can be used to record speech while limiting ambient noise. (The resulting file would be transcribed through a voice-to-text program to assist a student with special needs.) Among the few players that have built-in microphones (like the Fuze), the microphone opening is very small; I think that they would pick up a lot of environmental sound.
Are there any MP3 players available that accept audio input via an external (separate) microphone so that clear recordings can be made on the go? Or do you know what kind of quality a user can get from audio recorded with the internal microphones that come in the Fuze, new Samsung P3, or any other player?
(I'm trying to avoid purchasing another digital voice recorder if possible.)
Thank you very much!
