iPods & MP3 players

Purchased a Refurbished IPOD Touch.  5-6 months later the battery failed and I took it to the Apple store.  They would not service it because the case did not have a serial number and Best Buy store would not touch it as it was purchased online.  Best Buy .com customer service has told me Im hosed but was nice enough to refer me to the company that performs the refurbishment of these Ipods.  They "were sorry they missed my call but if I leave a message.... they will get back to me"

Two thumbs up to Best Buy for properly vetting the companies they use for refurbished products and for standing behind them.........  Apple is just as bad, as if the serial # means anything in order to replace the battery.  AND I had to schedule an appointment for them to tell me that...

Anyone else have this problem?
