IPad

I have read information on AOL and heard in the news a few dissapointments and I would like to ask a few questions if I may.  (I never bothered with a desktop as they were too clunky for me).

1. You cannot see even You Tube without Skype?  (Not to mention I wanted the news and baseball like my brother-in-laws portable TV.)  No movies from Netflix?

2.  The cost of Verizon around $360.00 a year?

3.  I use AOL and as I read you can receive, send, read e-mails.  Correct?

4.  I can't remember if it said yes or no to phone capable.

5.  Should I wait it out to see if they at least add a phone or for that matter writing a document and being on your browser at the same time?

Thanks.

1. You cannot see even You Tube without Skype?  Youtube is accessable without Skype. All you need is a WiFi connection or if you are getting the 3G enabled iPad a data connection to the AT&T network.(Not to mention I wanted the news and baseball like my brother-in-laws portable TV.)  No movies from Netflix?

2.  The cost of Verizon around $360.00 a year? Not sure where they came up with this number as the iPad is not usable on the Verizon network. While the iPad is unlocked the only US carrier that can support it completely is AT&T. T-Mobile can support it in a limited form. With T-Mobile it will only work on Edge and not the faster 3G connection.

3.  I use AOL and as I read you can receive, send, read e-mails.  Correct? Yes you can configure the inlcuded Email client to work with your AOL account.

4.  I can't remember if it said yes or no to phone capable. Other then potentially being able to use the likes of Skype or some other VOIP you will not have the ability to make or receive calls.

5.  Should I wait it out to see if they at least add a phone or for that matter writing a document and being on your browser at the same time? There will never be a phone added to the iPad that is what their iPhone is for.

Thanks.

Technically no place sells the iPad as they are still 60 and 90 days out from shipping the first units.

For the sake of beign thourgh and to save any potential arguments I will specify my above comment.
Q. Why is the iPad incompatible with Verizon?
A. Verizon uses a CDMA network. The iPad is a UMTS/HSDPA/GSM/EDGE device.
Q. Why is it only partially supported by T-Mobile?
A. T-Mobile 3G does not operate on a supported frequency. T-Mobile has a 3G frequency of 1700 Mhz. The operating frequencies of the iPad are UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz) and GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz). T-Mobiles Edge frequency is 1900Mhz and is therefore supported.

Re: IPad

Is BB not going to, Nokia?  Someone from KC, MO #37 that I know from HS got to see a demo in his store last week I believe.

Nothing I post is an official statment of Best Buy or Geek Squad, it is only a helpful opinion!
