Desperate, need serious help

Hello All,

Exactly one week ago I updaged my 2nd gen ipod touch to version 4.2.1, at that moment my itouch stopped syncing.  I get the following 2 errors, one right after another. "ipod cannot be synced.  the required disk can not be found." then "ipod cannot be synced. there was an error writing to the decvice"  No error messages or anything, just that.

So I call ipod tech support and visit the apple store twice.  upon the 2nd time they say ipod is screwed up and order me a new one.

just got home from picking up my brand new itouch. still a 2nd gen, right out of the box.

Same error messages.

im so mad i cant stand it and i dont know what to do?!?!?!?!

Re: Desperate, need serious help

I had a similar issue with my neices iPod touch 2G. Heres what I did.

1. Disconnect the iPod from the computer and close iTunes

2. Select the following 10 lines of text that begin with regsvr32, then select Copy from the Edit menu in your Web browser.

regsvr32 / s softpub.dll
regsvr32 / s wintrust.dll
regsvr32 / s dssenh.dll
regsvr32 / s rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 / s gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 / s sccbase.dll
regsvr32 / s slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 / s mssip32.dll
regsvr32 / s cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 / s initpki.dll
Open Notepad:
Start> All Programs -> Accessories> Notepad

3. In Notepad, choose Paste from the Edit menu. Note: Make sure that the text that appears in Notepad is the same as above.

4. On the File menu, choose Save As

5. In the File name field write appleipod.bat and save the file on the Desktop

6. Close Notepad and locate the file appleipod.bat. It should be on the desktop with the icon.

7. Double-click the file and you should see appear a black window for about a minute. Wait until the window disappears and follow the next step.

8. The file can be deleted and appleipod.bat

9. Open iTunes and connect iPod.

10. When the iPod appears in iTunes, restore and then re-synchronize the contents.

Re: Desperate, need serious help

I should add that what those 10 lines does is it re-registers those 10 DLL files with windows registry again. Sometimes (normally due to some form of malware infection) those .dll's will become unregistered causing syncing issues.
