We bought a Sony S545 walkman (16GB) for my husband to listen to audio books. We chose this after he had read the reviews on the walkman versus other MP3 players. Now we have found out that the walkman cannot download from audio book sources - (The Audio Book Store, Audible, Borders, Barnes & Noble etc.). I contacted Sony support and they confirmed that we could only get downloads from a public library for the walkman. So before I try to return this unit to BB, I need to find another product.
My husband wants to get the classics and listen to them with the earbuds. He also wants the ability to use a radio (AM/FM) and possibly download some music. He liked the idea of the 16GB memory on the unit he bought.
If you can give us any recommendations on what to buy/find we would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

Make sure you are within the 30 day return period.
Also, you're not gonna find any players with an AM radio. For players that support Audible, go here.

I was hoping you could recommend a brand or model that would work. If we can't get the AM radio it will be ok. Also, he has a blackberry phone - would that work instead?

I gave you a whole list of players that will work for Audible.

The Apple iPod Nano 5th Generation is a good choice if you want a fm radio plus your normal music and audiobooks. they come in both 16gb and 8gb versions. I have a 8gb Nano of the 5th generation it is awesome. ![]()

I love mine too. The only thing I don't like about the radio though is the reception. It seems that no matter where I am - the gym, at college, in my car, or at home, the reception is not anywhere near what it would be if I was listening to a real radio. Most stations I can get on a regular radio can't be picked up (or at least audibly) on my iPod Nano 5th Generation. Other than that, it's a great little piece of equipment. =]
