If you purchased a Dell computer from Best Buy and want to apply for the Windows 7 upgrade there might be an additional step you need to take to be able to apply for the upgrade. Before you fill out the upgrade form on Dell's website you will need to register your computer will dell so their system shows that you are the owner of the computer.

There are 2 ways to register the computer into your name;

• Visit http://support.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/global/shared/support/order/en/retail_landing_page... and complete the form. The transfer of ownership is instant and you should then be able to complete the upgrade form.
• Contact Dell at 1-800-624-9896 This process should also be instant.

When completing the Registration (Transfer of Ownership) you will be asked for your contact information as well as your Service Tag. The service tag can be found on a white-bar coded label attached to the computer (5-7 digit alphanumeric code).

After you have the computer transferred into your name you can then visit https://win7.dell.com/ and complete the upgrade form.
