Thanks for joining our community for some troubleshooting assistance! I understand it can be alarming that your nephew’s TV did this. I’d be happy to see how we might be able to help.
Can you please share the TV’s model number with me? I’d be happy to see how I can assist you further by reviewing the owner's manual. Usually unplugging the TV should’ve cleared up the issue. Have you attempted to reset the TV back to factory settings? Do the TV’s buttons on the side also turn off everything too when you try to use them instead of the remote. I look forward to your reply!
