Red power light is on, but TV is not responding to remote or touch panel buttons on TV. NS-40L240a13

Hello, my tv will not turn on with the remote or the touch sensitive buttons on the tv. Is there a hard reset button on this tv? From instructions online to reset the TV must hold down the power or menu button, but this does not work on my tv  because they are touch buttons, not mechanical buttons.

Since the TV doesn't have power, I'd recommend trying the steps outlined in the User Guide:

 

  • Make sure that the power cord is correctly connected to your TV and a power outlet.
  • Unplug the power cord, wait 60 seconds, then plug the cord back in and turn on your TV.
  • Other devices (for example, a surround sound receiver, external speakers, fans, or hair dryers) may be interfering with your TV. Try turning off one device at a time to determine which device is causing interference. After you have determined which device is causing interference, move it further from the TV to eliminate the interference.
  • If the previous steps result in turning on your TV, make sure that the Button Lock option is set to Off to ensure the buttons function properly.

Additionally, to ensure your remote is functioning properly, try this: remove the batteries and push all buttons on the remote control, then install new batteries. This will resolve most remote control issues.

 

If the problem persists, your TV will likely need repairs. You can pursue service by carrying your TV in to your local Geek Squad. You may schedule an appointment by visiting We're Here to Help and selecting "Make a Reservation" under "Getting Help is Easy."

I am assuming the TV does have power because the red light is on. is this a wrong assumption?

Thank you for the clarification. The red light would indicate the TV is receiving power.

 

Please try the troubleshooting steps recommended and let me know the results. If your TV will still not turn on afterward, you will likely need to pursue repairs.
