iPad return policy

Ok I'm glad I'm not the only one who was doped into thinking the same thing. I purchased my iPad on 2/26/12. The one I purchased was completely destroyed and scratched up. The screen was bent and falling off of the unit itself. I was so appalled by the condition of the iPad that I brought it back the next day. When I purchased the Firest one, I asked about the return policy and the sales,an said it was 30 days. When I exchanged it for another one the next day, I was again told the return policy was 30 days. When the new one came out, I called best buy to verify that it was 30 days and the representative again told me that the policy was 30 days. With this information, I preordered the new one and was going to return the old one when it came in. Today I went into the store to return it and I was told that the return policy was 14 days!!! This was the first time I heard this out of any salespersons mouth. I told them that this was never told to me. They told me that the new policy is 30 days. I thought it was a no brainier that I would be grandfathered in to this new policy because any other customer service business would have done so. This is. It the case at Best Buy. I am appalled at how "matter of factly" I was told that I have to keep the product when this was the first time I heard this. I also called the 1-800 number and was told that there are "No Exceptions" to the old policy and that there is nothing I can do. This is not how customers should be treated! I expect a response from Best Buy on why customers who purchased the iPad 2 in the last week of February not extended this 30 day policy when it is clear many were told their purchase would be covered under it.

Re: iPad return policy

So half of your information is true. BB changed the return policy on March 4th, so the first two times the employees were wrong, but the next two (after the new iPad was announced) the return policy was in fact 30 days for items purchased after 30 days.

What does the back of your receipt say from the iPad2 exchange about the return policy?

Re: iPad return policy

Dealing with the same problem.

First off being the "customer centric" business that Best Buy claims to be you would expect a little better customer service.

I'm not saying that the customer is always right just that they should be told that is the way it is now and be dismissed.

My wife purchased me an iPad2 a little less than a month ago, we saw the price drop and went to get that extra money back. We were told that the iPad2 was outside of their "14 Day Retun Policy" and we were not going to get the price match. Which I could have understood, however I read the retun policy online prior to going to the store and "All Products have a 30 day return policy". Nothing was stated that anything prior to the March 4th change (which I just read about in one of the above posts) would honor the previous policy. But to be treated with no respect and walked away from by a  "manager" does not promote Best Buy in anyway as a customer center business. As for the 14 day return policy I looked at the back or the receipt and they are very explicit about what is under that policy:

"14 day for desktop and notebook computers, monitors, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, and radar dectors."

"30 days for all other products"

Last time I checked iPads are considered "tablets" not "desktop or laptop computers", under the old policy a Digital SLR had a 14 day return policy, but a standard SLR had a 30 Return Policy.

So do they just pick and choose the way to read and enforce their own policies????

WAY TO BE CUSTOMER CENTERED IF YOU ASK ME

Re: iPad return policy

Tablets are sold in the Computing department, thus filed under anything Computer hardware related which means a 14 day return policy.

Re: iPad return policy

Wow I thought I was can have this issue too. But I didn't. Here's the thing whenever you buy a computer product and they ask you if you want a warranty or some special offer take advantage of it. It might be an extra amount of money but it's well worth it trust me on that. And then you don't have these problems. I always get the year plan or the year warranty on my computer products from Best Buy and it's always work to my advantage ALWAYS. As far as customer service goes, I have had nothing but the best customer service thus far at the Sunnyvale store. That's one of the main reasons I get all my products from Best Buy is the customer service. I do have to say the Sunnyville store is unique they're a lot different than the other stores in the area. I would go on my way to go to the Sunnyvale store, their customer service is really EXCELLENT.
