My husband has decided that he wants to get on the tablet band wagon. After a long debate he has decided to go with the Asus Eee Pad, leaning toward the Transformer Prime. I have looked into the two, and have not really found any articles comparing the two. I have found lots comparing one or the other to the ipad or samsung galaxy or others. I have found a few "top 5" or "top 10" tablet lists and they are always in different places. Wondering the main differences between the two, which is a better buy and any other info that anyone would like to share.
Thank you ![]()

I bought my first tablet a little ovr a month ago. It was the transformer prime. Figuring the store only had like 10 at a time and being very tech orientred the specs of the device are simply stunning. Mind you the new apple says the new ipad is still 4x more powerful then the tegra 3(transformer prime processor) that is completely taken out of proportion. The ipads processor (a5x) is 4x more powerful then tegra 3 in the graphics unit. The tegra 3 is simply one of a kind. The ipad is actualy only a dual core. prime is quad core plus another processor for small system processes. Apple claims the new ipad has over 1million extra pixels making it the best hd screeen....hd is hd. The human eye can not process 1 million more pixels. When you watch an hd channel on tv thats as much clarity as you will always get. Get the prime with the dock. he wil LOVE IT

For only about $50 more, the prime vs the normal transformer is the best option. Quad core Tegra 3 processing, 1080p HD video, 8MP camera just to name a few specs, the keyboard allows for total 18 hours of battery life with a USB and SD card slot. get it

If you shop around online, you can find the old Transformer for almost $150 less than the equivalent memory Transformer Prime right now. If you are looking for a basic entry level tablet, the old Transformer is a great buy these days for the price.
However, from a specs and capability perspective, the extra money spent on the Prime helps future proof your purchase in my opinion. All the specs on the Prime blow away the older Asus Transformer. Processor speed, number of cores, size, shape, thickness and weight all beat the old transformer in significant ways, and are geared towards future quad-core apps.
If you have the money, get the Prime and don't look back. If you want to save a little bit and enter into the tablet market to try one out, maybe go with the older Asus Transformer for him now. If it is nice, but you want more capability, you could upgrade to the Prime, or the yet to be released Asus 700, for yourself come the holidays...

The current Prime does not have a 1080p display. (It can, however, decode 1080p video, but it will be downscaled to 720p) The next one (the TF700) will have a 1080p display.
