Sony PRS-900 availability

I am interested in the Sony PRS-900 (your sku number 9667203). According to Sony it is available on the 18th of December and I wanted to find out when it will be available to at least demo at Best Buy stores.

if you want a prs-900 reader. don't get in a hurry.  i pre-ordered one on the 15th. the reader was to be released on the 18th.  i was promised that it would be shipped to me before christmas. my release date was on the 18. on the 17th at 10:00 am i added express shipping. just to make sure that it would make it (an extra $24).  that same day, 5 hours and fifteen minuts later at 3:15pm. i recieved an e-mail stating that my new release date was to be the 22.  still fine it will still make it by christmas since i bought the express shipping right. well on the 18th my original release date. i got a e-mail saying that the new date for release is on the 24th of dec.  thats christmas eve. so i am pretty sure that i will get another e-mail on the 24 stating that it will be even longer for my purchase to be shipped to me.  i plainly asked that if i wouldn't recieve the gift before christmas than i would try other places.  guess that was my mistake for trusting best buy.  i have bought other stuff with no problems. but this one has been a big disappointment. every time i have talked to best buy i have tried to do an instore pickup within 150 miles from me but they say no one has them in stock.  guess it is easy for best buy to over sell what they will get in on their shippments.  so since i have waited on them to fulfill my order. it is now to late for me to order from someone else. so i guess i will just have to wait.  also they hold the funds in your account until they ship the item out so your money is tied up to.

I have had a similar experience.  

 

My credit card was immediately charged. 

 

I was told that the item was to be at my home for sure on 12-23-2009 and then for sure on 12-24-2009.

 

On 12-25-2009, I got a message from Best Buy that the Sony Reader was delayed......DUH!!

 

I have sent e-mails to BestBuy and was told that a response would be in 7 to 10 days.

 

This is the second time that I have tried to order on bestbuy.com and the second time that the order was either messed up or did not show up.  It is the last time that I will try this.   Best Buy needs to see how other vendors do it.  I was going to mention the other vendor but got a message that the vendor's name is "not permitted in ths community".  Now, that is funny

 

The funny part is that I can't even cancel the item on-line.  So, I called the number listed and was told the hold time would be at least 20 minutes.

 

Clearly, in my opinion, Best Buy has not got this bestbuy.com figured out.   It is the last time I will try to use it.

So, has anyone actually received one from Best Buy yet? My order just says back ordered and I can't get any additional information from them on it. I may just cancel it and go straight to Sony and palce the order, despite their site saynig the 15th, I've read on multiple sites that they are shipping within a day or two of ordering.

Good luck trying to cancel the order.  I have sent several e-mail messages and have yet to get a reply.  I have called and was told that I could not cancel even though the item has not yet shipped.  

Dealing with Best Buy at bestbuy.com has been a total disappointment.  I wont make this mistake again.

I spoke to someone on the phone to see if I could get a date of some sort and was told sometime between January 16th and February 1st. At this point I'll let it go sicne my order is supposed to be cancelled automatically if it hasn't shipped within 2 weeks of the day I placed it. If it hasn't gone out by then (the 14th) I'll pobably let it get cancelled and go with Sony since they are supposed to be shipping by the 15th.

I ordered my Daily Edition on December 30th, 2009. I just got of the phone with customer service.  They said a shipment should arrive next week. They had no problem cancelling my order if I wanted to terminate delivery. I also checked and they are not holding my funds. My card will not be charged until my order ships. Overall, it was a very good experience.  You might want to expedite your shipping, the Rep told me it could save you a week on delivery time.

Hey everyone!

 

Just to quickly clarify, I moderate this portion of the forum. So if you ever have any questions just post here and I will find out what I can.

 

This model has been on backorder. I did just recieve word that we will be shipping out all of our current orders as of the 19th.
