New iPad Memory warning...

I stumbled across this article about the new iPad applications.... you might want to think about purchase a model with more memory than 16gb... it appears application size have grown because of display demands.

Re: New iPad Memory warning...

Agreed. My friend debated this with me and I still insist, the future of this particular product...having a Quad-core and the amazing screen is pure encouragement for developers to raise the bar and come out with better stuff. Seems like I have ammo to back up my arguement. I pre-ordered the 64GB. Very excited!

Re: New iPad Memory warning...

Hey,

I just read your post and you said that you pre-order the new IPad 64GB  .... just wondering if you pre-ordered it from Apple.com or if you were able to pre-order it from bestbuy.

Thanks for the help!!

Heather

Re: New iPad Memory warning...

Each individual store CAN start a preorder list. It is entirely up to them. Many probably won't as there is no guaruntee on how many iPad HDd they will receive. Given the demand that it seems highly improbable that they will hold that item.

Re: New iPad Memory warning...

Sorry, maybe that wasn't the best phrasing to use. My store is doing a pre-order that is totally up to each individual store manager and somewhat unique. I had to buy a $50 Best Buy Gift card, they wrote down the model and color of iPad I wanted in a book and I'm number 3. If there are 3 or more of the Black 64GB Wi-Fi (the one I selected) then I get one on launch day using my "pre-order". But say only 2 of that color and model come in, I'm S.O.L. until they get more.

Apple does not tell Best Buy company, nor does it tell the stores how many will arrive on the truck. They send a random amount to each location and Best But has to make due with what they received. Some stores are NOT using this "pre-order" style I mentioned and are telling people to line up on Friday. This is at the discretion of the store manager.

Again, this is totally up to the store manager in each store. It CANNOT be "pre-ordered" in this manner thru BestBuy.com.

Hope that helps!

Re: New iPad Memory warning...

People need to use slightly different terminology I think.

Preorde to me implies that you order early and they ship that specifically out for you.

Maybe reservation system or maybe something else

Re: New iPad Memory warning...

If you're getting an iPad I think it's pretty obvious that you get the one with the biggest memory. For some people, it's a replacement for a laptop and you don't want something that will let you hold only like 5 movies and a thousand songs and couple of big apps. Good post though

Re: New iPad Memory warning...

I guess it really depends on how people use their tablets.

My first iPad, I barely used 2gb.  I downloaded few apps and much of my content usage was online (webmail).

I bought a Blackberry Playbook and quickly filled up the memory with home videos.  Playbooks are great with the dual built-in speakers.

Talking to others, many fill their iPads with applications.  With application sizes growing, I felt it the warning was appropriate.

I subscribe to both audio and video podcasts, have photos, music, and a few videos on my 64GB iPad, and I only have about 11GB available.
