I think BB had good intentions and unfortunately it is starting to backfire. Early on nobody was blaming BB but day by day more are. I had no problem until I heard they launched with large numbers of ipad 2's at stores in Mexico and Canada, I did not even know BB went beyond US borders. I put my $100 "deposit" down on 12 March and was told 2 weeks but I am now almost 100% sure I will receive the one I ordered from apple.com 9 days ago first, that one will be here NLT 28 April. Called Apple BB was under no obligation to ship to Canada on time so it does pme off that they have units for Canada
when tens of thousands have put $100 down in the US. And yes the wifi only will work ANYWHERE. The
At&T model will work most everywhere, the verizon system is only good in the US. For those of you who
don't know the miff card is a rechargeable card the size of a credit card that basically acts as a portable wifi router
$20/month for 1 gb, 35/ month for 3 and 50/month for 8gb and that is from verizon. From what I know if you have a wifi
only and an iphone 4g you can tether the ipad to the phone for prices similar to mifi. I have gone to known dead spots
where no cellphone gets reception and have no problem using MiFi in these locations and you can use up to 5 devices off
a single MiFi card. My wife often downloads on her ipod touch while I surf the web using the MiFi on my original pad. When
I eventually get my ipad 2 and give this one to my wife I will just up MiFi from$35 per month to $50 it is month to month no
contracts. I got mine from verizon since that is where I have my phones so they can just add to my cellular bill. Good luck
to you all I know it sucks and it must really suck for those who do not have the first one, I am frustrated when for me it is
just a new toy with a couple new features, if I did not have the extra disposable income the new features would not be
worth $700+, I sure hope they roll the ipad 3 out a heck of a lot better than this one, as someone with an MBA, I am sure this is going to be a case study in marketing and management at B-Schools throughout the country for decades. BRILLIANT OR MISGUIDED!!

Yeah Best Buy is really screwed up. Listen to my tale of hope and tragedy.

 I "Reserved" my iPad 2 from the BB on 23rd Street in Manhattan NY, and then last week (Wednesday 3/23) I walked into the Union Square store on 14th Street and ask if they had any iPad 2's the guy said no but they were expecting some this week (first shipment since release)....as I started walking away he get a call on the walkie talkie from the stock room saying they just unloaded some iPad 2 boxes and he calls me back and asks me which model I want I quickly tell him Black 64GB AT&T version he gets it right away for me and this being my first iPad say hey I wanted the iPad 2 not the iPad 1 because the box is very plain and simply says iPad on it not iPad 2 I assumed it was the first gen iPad but he quickly pointed out the picture on the box telling me it was an iPad 2. I then look at the box and can't find anything to indicate its the 3G or AT&T model and he says it is and that the Verizon models have a sticker on them. I buy it and behind me is already 10 more ppl lined up...it seemed like there were not even bothering with the reserve list and were selling them off the shelf since I didn't have a reserve at that store and they readily sold it to me.

I am all happy then I take it back to work with my plug it in and set it all up then as I'm playing around with it I notice in the top left corner where it shows the connection bars it says Verizon!?!?! Im like WTH and sure enough it was a Verizon model I quickly pack it up and literally run back to the store to return and exchange it but alas there were all gone. At first they gave me a bit of a hard time returning it and then they checked the store I actually had the reserve with and said they had 10 of them over there (by looking in the computer and also speaking with a manager over there) and I would get a call from my reserve if they had my model. They wanted me to hold onto the one I had and do an exchange but I said no I want a refund and no restocking fee because it was their employee that made the mistake b/c I clearly told him I wanted the AT&T model and I clearly asked him again when he brought it over if it was the AT&T model b/c I could see anything on the box that said it was. So they finally refunded me with out penalty. and then I ran to the other store....

I get to the other store and they deny even getting a shipment even after I told them the other manager saw it in the computer and even spoke with a manager from their store that said they did come in....but bottom line they said no we didn't get any and you just have to wait for your call.

I am locked into Best Buy because my birthday just pasted on the release weekend and I had everyone give me BB gift cards or cash for gifts ($280.00 BB gift cards + $300 cash) + the $100 reserve BB Gift card and I want to 0% my iPad for 18 Months to spread the pain (even though I set aside another $600 in my savings from ebaying a bunch of my old stuff for an iPad 2 fund)

I will keep trying the walk in route until I get my reserve call.

That's crazy. I keep calling the store that I reserved my iPad 2 from and they also keep saying they haven't received any since launch. I wonder if they are just telling people that until they fill the reserved ones..? Also I think its crazy that they sold you (and all the other walk-ins) one from the other store instead of filling the reservations first. I sure hope my BB store hasn't been doing the same. I too decided to buy from BB since I had a few gift cards from there. Next time I need to get Apple gift cards...

When I saw that post I laughed because I am beginning to wonder if BB is not sticking to their promises, and I agree once a store completes its reservation list they should have to send future orders to stores in the same county who still have people waiting before selling to the general public, because I was told if you put your $100 down you would be taken care of by BB before `the general public and the wording was by the company BB, not just my local store

At first I put all the blame on Apple and was actually sympathetic to BB. Now I am losing faith in BB as their distribution should be such that stores that receive shipments that do not have a wait list left should have to courier their shipment to the nearest store with loyal, trusting customers who put down their $100. If BB has this money in just a simple !% savings type account they are making a lot of interest on the hundreds of thousands they must have collected country wide and then to read a post that they went ahead with their shipments to Canada and Mexico and it was reported there were plenty of units due to what happened in the US. Perhaps BB corporate has been hoarding Wifi and AT&T models and not letting them get to local stores so they would have all they need to take care of Canada. Just last month I had a $2,200 home theatre system set up in my BR by BB, was very happy and planned on using them for a MUCH larger system for my family room before football season because it is time to upgrade but this ipad 2 business has left such a sour taste in my mouth I will not deal with them again except for my ipad 2 if they get it to me before apple online which I am seriously beginning to doubt. The real aggravating thing is when I called BB on March 12 they said it could take 2 days but they guaranteed no more than 2 weeks, today is day 15 and no end in sight. At that time Apple online was guaranteeing 3 weeks and are holding to it, everyone who ordered from apple.com prior to march 17 will receive their unit NLT April 3. I was filling it out while my wife was on phone with BB. If BB had not used the word guarantee I would have placed the order with both like I have done now and would receive my ipad by this coming weekend one way or another, Stupid Me!! Well I will receive the one from apple between April 16 but NLT April 28 and I am sad to say to those of you waiting just for BB I do not think they will come through in the nect 4 weeks, for all you good people out there I hope I am wrong, heck I would love to get a call from them tomorrow and using my BB card I will only have to pay about $40 per month interest free for 18 months with apple it is $749 at once as I do not carry balances credit cards unless it is for interest free financing. For those of you who don't know if you go to the apple site you can get a CC issued by a bank doing business with apple and get 12 month interest free financing, but I got the BB card when I did the home theatre and applying for too many cards in too short a time hurts your FICO score and I like to keep mine at or above 800 to always receive top financing so if apple comes through just have to give them $749 at once but it is always fun to know you got "free money" and that is what I like about interest free financing, Good Night!!

Well, I finally got tired of waiting to hear from BB after 2 and a half weeks, so I just got one from Walmart. I have a friend whose mother works in the electronics dept there. So I asked if she could let me know as soon as they get some more in and sure enough they had just gotten some in and had a 32gb black wifi-only model that I picked up.

Best Buy kept telling me they hadn't gotten any so thats why I gave up on them. I'm not sure yet if I'll cancel my reservation now or wait and see how long it takes for them to call me just for the heck of it.

I kept checking with Best Buy every day with no luck each day.  One day for giggles I decided to check other stores like Target and Walmart.  Low and behold, I would see Target has some...Then they would sell out...then they would get some...Then they would sell out... Finally I just waited till they had some at Target and went over to the store and bought one.  I still have not heard anything from Best Buy.  Oh well...

well maybe some movement, my BB has been adamant with no comment since I first ordered, yesterday they said they were expecting a big shipment according to what Apple and BB corporate told them, I hope so!!

I hope so, I reserved mine the day after it came out. It's taking Apple so long, I was actually thinking about just getting the new WiFi version of the Xoom. It'll be 3 weeks tomorrow that the iPad was released. I'm tired of waiting....
