This seems to be a rising issue.. You just need to let Apple know every opportunity you get and hope they have a fix soon

Re: My iPad 32 gb Verizon is getting hot in the bach

Hmm...

  • Hot hot are we talking?  Just took an IR thermometer to mine after having it on for 20 minutes and it's just 27C/80F at room temperature.
  • What are you doing when it gets hot?  Video editing?  Gaming?
  • How is the iPad held?  Is it on your lap?  Is the iPad on a stand?  Is the iPad within a stuffy case?
  • What happens if you disable the LTE?  Does it run cooler longer?  Don't have a heat concern running on wifi yet.  My laptops run warmer.

Re: My iPad 32 gb Verizon is getting hot in the bach

I did it already and even I went to apple store that guy with a stupid tone told me that is normal , even my 9 years old knows that is not normal couse he doesn't want to play with it and asking me where is the other one (Ipad 2 that I sold to buy this one ) . I am giving apples 29 days to fix this issue if not I am going to return it and get and iPad 2 and wait another year for better product .

Re: My iPad 32 gb Verizon is getting hot in the bach

I'll have to do some more heat tests later... for myself I have it at 50% brightness.  Sounds like the lamp brightness seems to make a difference for you.

I don't use a cover on my new iPad.  But do plan to have a skin when one comes out later.  I used skins on my iPad2 in the past without problems.  Then again, I was using the Zagg Keyboard cover, where the back side is exposed for air cooling.

Again, see if disabling the LTE if it makes a difference.  I notice my mobile hotspots generate a lot of heat.  Someone told me the new cell frequencies approach "microwaves".  So perhaps the LTE is make the iPad a coffee warmer.

I am sorely tempted to tell the OP to try switching to Mozart...

Re: My iPad 32 gb Verizon is getting hot in the back

It's been confirmed.... LTE does increase the temperature.  Along with movies and games.
