It's better to give than receive (Transformer Prime)

Thanks Best Buy!

My daughter suffers from bipolar and anxiety disorder and has missed two years of school because of it.  She's a trooper, though, and always makes the best of her situation.  Therefore, I think it will be easier on her than it will be on her Mother and I when we don't have a gift for her on Christmas morning.  Her boyfreind won't have one for her either, and in some ways that's harder on me.

The only thing that she would say was she wanted for Christmas was the Transformer Prime and on the 3rd of December, I pre-ordered it in all good faith from Best Buy on-line. My wife and I couldn't afford the entire amount, so our daughter's boyfreind went in as his gift for her.  I kept checking the order status allmost daily, and it kept saying it would ship on the 18th.  No worries!  Right?

WRONG! This morning I get an email saying it's back ordered and it will be 1 to 2 weeks shipping.  My wife called the 1 888 number immediately and was spoken to ratherly rudely and given no consideration, information or anything.

The kicker is, my CC has been charged the full amount for over a week now.

I will NEVER EVER EVER step a foot into a Best Buy or even consider shopping Best Buy on-line EVER EVER again.  My BB Card will be cut up and everyone I ever speak to about electronic purchases will know of BB's practices.

Thanks Best Buy!

Re: It's better to give than receive (Transformer Prime)

So, Asus production wasn't able to keep up with demand, and it's Best Buy's fault?

Why does this situation surprise you considering how long the original Transformer was stuck on backorder?

Re: It's better to give than receive (Transformer Prime)

amazon was able to cancel pre-orders a week ago, rather than stringing people along. and, the ones that they didn't get their orders canceled are opening their transformer primes as we speak. if amazon can do it, why not BB?

I've been told as far away as 12/5 that my order was shipping. then, i was told i should just cancel b/c BB doesn't sell the champagne one. mostly, i was just lied to or guessed at.

Stop making excuses for this dump of a company.

sorry about your daughter, Desso. I'm sure you'll find a way to have a good xmas.

Re: It's better to give than receive (Transformer Prime)

I agree with the original poster. I purchased this for my parents for Christmas and I have been calling everyday for the last two weeks to make sure everything was on track for a Pre-Christmas delivery. Every time I was reassured it would be here by the 23rd of December. Now it's backordered. No one can really tell me anything. Does Best Buy not know when they will receive their next shipment? I want some kind of answer to justify my spending of $561.00 for a gift that is going to arrive after Christmas.

Thanks, Pistdad.  We will for sure.  It's just a "thing" and we have many, many things to be thankful for.

Re: It's better to give than receive (Transformer Prime)

This is just a guess on my part, but from my experience this is how preorders work.

MFG lets retailer know how many to expect.  Retailer then allows that many or less for preorder, to make sure it is available.  MFG says OOPS, NVM, SHORTAGE, OUR BAD.  Retailer now has to let people know it is not going to happen.  Even worse when the MFG tells the retailer 1 day or 2 before release.

That really sucks for you and your family that you can't get it.  Best Buy did what they could.  I would start my picketing with Asus if I were you.  What's the saying?  Don't shoot the messenger?

My comments and opinions are exactly that, my own. Although I do work for the Geek Squad, I am in no way speaking for, or representing Best Buy as a company.

Re: It's better to give than receive (Transformer Prime)

I think I share the thoughts and feelings of many by saying that while yes, Best Buy isn't completely to blame (obviously), they ARE at serious fault in their failure to communicate with their customers.  We are attempting to purchase a high end product and instead of a delivery confirmation, we receive a generic email on the day of the tablet's release.  When we attempted to call and find out what's going on (because the generic email told us NOTHING) the representatives have no clue themselves.  THAT is what we're ticked about.  There should be a line of communication between not only BB and it's customers, but also between upper managment and those that have tth responsiblity to talk to their customers.  It's because of this that we are upset...no...FURIOUS at Best Buy.

Re: It's better to give than receive (Transformer Prime)

Why did Amazon know weeks before Best Buy that they wouldn't be able to fulfill the pre-orders?  Why are people that pre-ordered at a LATER DATE than I, and many others, did recieving their prime?  Logistics failure on Best Buy's part.  Period.
