Ipad 1 att, ipad hd verizon. options???

I currently have a ipad 1 that is 3G Att and am considering getting a Verizon 4G ipad hd.  Can I jailbreak the ipad 1 and use it on Verizon?  Can you have two ipads on one account?  I want Verizon because they seem to have more coverage.  Are they still doing 4GB/mo for $30?

Thanks.

No, you cannot use the iPad 2 on a different network.  Yes, you can have multiple iPads on the same account, just like you can have multiple phones. Call Verizon to see what is currently offered for data plans in your area.

Does verizon have mobile hotspots? If so, you can use both iPads on the same Verizon account.

A mobile hotspot is one solution, and yes, Verizon has them.  But both iPads can be on the same account with no problem, without a hotspot, each with it's own data plan.

Re: Ipad 1 att, ipad hd verizon. options???

I was wondering if you can put 2 ipads on one data plan.  For example if my data plan is 2GB then I have 2GB per month to use between the 2 devices.

If it is not possible to jailbreak and unlock an ATT ipad and use on Verizon service is it possible to do the above with 2 (one ipad1 and one ipad hd) ATT ipads.  (on data plan sharing data)

Thx

With a mobile hotspot, you are on ONE data plan. Instead of paying for an expensive LTE option, you can get by with the regular wifi iPad. Just wifi connect your iPad to the hotspot.

I agree that the hotspot would be your best solution.  Your data cap would be shared among the devices.

Here's another thought....

Have you considered a Verizon smartphone? Some smartphones have a "hotspot" feature. So when you are not using data on the phone, it can be used by either of your iPads.

I love my Blackberry Torchie.

Tethering is additional cost.  It is not included, even in the truly unlimited data plans, which I still have.  If I wanted to use my Bionic to tether, then I would have to pay an additional amount...don't recall what it is, but I think it's $49.99 a month, and the tethering counts against your data cap..

Re: Ipad 1 att, ipad hd verizon. options???

Here is what i found out.  At this time it is NOT possible to put 2 ipads on one plan. You would think that ATT missed the boat on this since a lot of people have ipad 1's that are ATT(only initial provider) and would have stayed with ATT if there was an option to add an ipad to their plan for a $10 fee a month or so.

Verizon allows you to use the ipad as a hot spot with ANY data plan for no additional fee.  ATT allows you to do this with the 5GB plan only.

ATT Service            Verizon Service

250mb 14.99          1GB $20

3GB      29.99          2GB  $30

 5GB     49.99          5GB $50   (I think that is the price of the 5GB service )

Hotspots are option but then you can't have service on both device in different locations.  The then have to worry about having both the Hotspot and your ipad and making sure batteries are charged on both.  Too much hassel.  You are also  limited (at least on Verizon) to a min of 5GB service.  I think I will keep service on my ipad one and get a Verizon and just get the 1GB service plan.
