Could someone help me... what is the difference between the IPad and the Tablet.

I contacted Apple yesterday about the IPAD and they refused to answer my question about how much ram it had. There is one major difference between an IPAD and other tablets and that is the price. For the money a android tablet is a better buy. The problem is that there are so many different android tablets out there. You get what you pay for. I recommend a Samsung Galaxy tablet. It is priced just right and best of all you don't have to pay for all the apps like you do with an IPAD. You may have to do some more research but this is my personal opinion.

an iPad is one particular brand/model of tablet - that's the difference.
Tablet is a category of products, iPad is a specific one.

Ignore the rumblings about Apple refusing to tell how much RAM is in the iPad...that is well know for both the iPad and iPad 2. They come with either 16, 32 or 64 GB of storage. That has been the same since day one.

Published long ago: iPad has 256MB, the iPad2 has 512MB. There are dozens of tear down videos where the ipad is taken apart, and these appeared on the first day the orignal iPad was made available. So, the amount of RAM has never been a mystery.

Gosh! I appreciate all of your efforts in helping me decipher the two... however, all of your talk about rams and gb's .. Im sorry, but its all foreign land for me. I can barely figure out how to use the answering machine ---> PLAY, STOP & DELETE
I had gone to best buy and purchased the IPad with 32gb - so hopefully this is the one that he wanted.. if not, he can always return for the correct item... but holy cow... I can't believe to cost of those items.. after the 2 year warranty - it was close to $850.00 <~~~ I say, for that cost... it better sing and dance as well!
Happy Holidays everyone!

I am not an Apple fan...I love my android Motorlola Droid Bionic. But when it comes to tablets, the iPad is stall hard to beat. There are some pretty good android tablets out there, but none of them come close to the iPad in performance. So, in this one market, I think the iPad is still the best choice. Maybe that will change (for a while) when Ice Cream Sandwich hits the Android tablets, but then the iPad 3 will be out. Will watch that race closely.
