Re: Calling stores for Ipad3 pre-order info

That thought worries me, since there are no less then 3 Apple stores within driving distance (I'm in Michigan, Detroit Area).  I could easily see them yanking from the Best Buy stock in this area....

Re: Calling stores for Ipad3 pre-order info

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to reach my local store in West L.A. (on Pico).  Yesterday I called and was told by the automated attendant that there were three calls ahead of me.  I finally gave up after 14 minutes.  I tried again later but this time there were four calls ahead of me and I gave up after 17 minutes.

Today I tried calling and again pressed the prompts to speak to a human being in the store.  Four times I tried and each time it just rang and rang (no one waiting ahead of me) and each time I was just cut off, no one answered.  A couple of the times I could clearly hear a brief moment of background noise from the store before getting cut off.  West L.A., answer your *&^%@ phone.

Re: Calling stores for Ipad3 pre-order info

I called my store twice today and have consistently told me that they don't/won't have a pre-order for the new iPad. I'm kind of glad, also. That means that I don't have to worry about missing the pre-order and ending up low on the list. Luckily, I have exams on Wednesday and are off the rest of the week, and I requested the 16th off from work. I might just line up with some of my friends late the night before. Last time, we lined up at 1:30pm for the 5pm launch and we were 4th in line.

Re: Calling stores for Ipad3 pre-order info

Just called my local one, and one a little farther away. They both said they won't be doing pre-orders and that it's first come first serve. Anyone know if these are being released at 5PM again? Or should we be there first thing in the morning?

I read that they would have them first thing in the morning, but I also read that bestbuy was going to do preorders so I dont know what to believe anymore :smileytongue:

Re: Calling stores for Ipad3 pre-order info

I went into my Best Buy near me and spent 20 minutes listening to the guy telling me that I would probably miss out and wind up waiting up to 6 months for an iPad and tried to get me to buy another tablet entirely.  Even after I told him I was more than willing to wait if I missed out on launch the discouraging speeches continued.  I left the store downright irritated.

Im sick of bestbuy sales reps right now, get the same crap from them too! Plus the majority of us know far more about the products then they do, figure that one out?!!? :smileyfrustrated:

Re: Calling stores for Ipad3 pre-order info

My main questions now, ones I would think Best Buys should have an answer to, are a) the actual launch time (morning or 5PM like last year) and b) if people that miss the boat have the option of putting their name on a list (although I'm not sure how much of what they do with post launch shipments is Apple's call).

I called two different stores today and was told they start selling at 5PM. That's a little odd though, since it seems like Apple Stores are gearing up for a launch 8AM, according to several sources.
