Re: Best Galaxy Tab for the price?

The only thing I liked about Android was that you could add widgets on the home screen. But at the same time that really drained the battery...
True. Apple is a bit pricey for regular consumers like us to attain.
I personally think they should just stop advertising and slash down the price a little because there really is no need for them to advertise since everyone knows about the product before it is even announced to be released.

Re: Best Galaxy Tab for the price?

Yeah. Luckily I can get the student discount which is actually about 400 bucks off that 3600. I can also get the Adobe Master Collection 2000 off. Pretty good discount perks when you're a student.

Re: Best Galaxy Tab for the price?

lol You could probably cheat the system for discounts. It's a lot of work though and you'd have to pay for classes before dropping them for a refund. This topic is way off topic. So are you going to be watching the iPad 3 live blog tomorrow?

Re: Best Galaxy Tab for the price?

Yeah it's actually a pretty big improvement. Retina display(2048x1536), quad core, LTE, and a camera similar to the 4S.

Re: Best Galaxy Tab for the price?

The new iPad has a dual core A5X processor with a quad core graphics chip.  I see a lot of people erroneously referring to the new iPad as a quad core machine. Standard protocol is to refer to the numer of CPU cores, not GPU cores.  Apple is just vague enough to allow some to think that their reference to quad core means CPU, instead of GPU.

Re: Best Galaxy Tab for the price?

In fact, the CPU itself is identical to its predecessor - dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9, which is slow by today's standards.

The increased fillrate of the GPU is offset by needing to drive 4x the pixels.

For many people, the increased resolution isn't enough to justify the significant extra weight - they had to make the battery MUCH larger to offset the drain of the GPU and the LTE chipset.

I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 - it's getting a bit on the old side, but it's still solid hardware.  The upcoming Note 10.1 is going to be excellent - it will use the same CPU (1.4 GHz Exynos 4210) as the current 5.3" Note (much faster than the Tegra2, which is known for not performing very well for its clockrate, which is low to begin with), or it might use Samsung's new Exynos 4212, which is more power efficient than the existing Exynos in the Note.
