Having
difficulties with your TV? Does the TV appear
to be on, but there’s no display? If
so, then you may want to try some of these helpful troubleshooting techniques:
1)
Double-check your TV’s connections.
As simple as this may sound, connections do sometimes become loose over
time. They can even be jarred loose if
you’ve run cables around heavily-used furniture or have particularly rambunctious
pets.
2)
Make sure your TV is on the correct video input. You can typically change a TV’s video input
through the main menu or using a dedicated button on its remote control. This button may be labeled as “Input,” “Source”
or simply “Video.”
3)
Power cycle the TV and any connected devices. To do so, simply turn them off, wait at least
a minute, and then turn them back on.
You’ll also want to reset your set-top box (cable, satellite or DTV
converter) if you use one.
4)
Make sure your TV has the latest firmware update. Firmware updates can generally be obtained
through the manufacturer’s website and installed via a CD or USB storage
device. Some Internet-connected HDTVs
also allow you to update the unit’s firmware by connecting directly to your
home network. For step-by-step
instructions specific to your TV though you’ll want to refer to your owner’s
manual documentation.
