Try an alternate connection, such as optical, analog red/white, or digital coaxial. You're TV should have at least on of those as an option.

Make sure that the HDMI port you're using on both the TV and the reciever are the ARC enabled ports, and that you have ARC enabled. The port should be labled on the TV, on the reciever it should be the HDMI out port.

Is there a cable/satellite box connected? If so you would want to get your audio from your source, not your TV. So normally you have the order Cable/Sat box ->Sony receiver->TV
Or course ARC is an option.
So when the the cable box sends the signal to the receiver, the receiver pass through the video to the TV, and sends the audio to the speakers. Nice thing about having HDMI switching is you can plug everything HDMI into the receiver, and only have one HDMI cable going from the receiver to the TV.

No cable box or sat connected. ARC Iam not sure what that is.

What are you watching on TV? Cable, antenna, dvd player, etc...?

ARC is Audio Return Channel. It lets you send audio from your TV to your reciever via HDMI. Both of your devices support it, but only over specific HDMI ports. Your manuals should have the necesarry information.

Man, run an optical cable from your TV to your receiver and be done with this.

Normally TVs don't send dolby digital through the optical output. Unless you're using features built in the TV like antenna, netfix, etc..

The OP is getting NO sound, much live Dolby Digital. You have to crawl before you walk.
