Will BestBuy include 2 free pairs of glasses w/ Samsung 3DTV purchase?

Will BestBuy.com and Best Buy retail stores be part of Samsung's promotion starting this Sunday, April 24, to include at least 2 free pairs of 3D glasses on all new 3DTV purchases? (OR the 3D starter kit on their higher end LEDs and Plasmas, I realize it's not including both)

Re: Will BestBuy include 2 free pairs of glasses w/ Samsung 3DTV purchase?

You may want to peruse this board and see the many related threads about folks still not getting their promised 3D glasses from earlier promotions.  Be advised that even if BB participates in the promotion, it is up to a third party to fulfill it, and BB has no control over that.  It is possible that you may never receive any "extras" promised you.

One other thought...3D tech as we see it today, with each manufacturer offering their own proprietary solutions, will be dead very quickly.  If 3D proves to be nothing more than a fad, passive 3D will replace everything that exists today.  That is something to consider if you are making your buying decision based soley on 3D.  Personally, I would ignore 3D for two reasons:

1. There are no movies (except possibly AVATAR), that are actually better movies because they are in 3D.  Most movies use 3D gimmicks that add nothing to the movie.  But hey, who cares about content...it's 3D, right?

2.  I'd concentrate on the basics when buying a TV; how good is the picture?  How is the TV rated in reviews?  Does it receive good customer ratings?  You will be watching mostly non 3D content on the TV, so you chould shop that way. If you find a good TV that fits your budget that happens to have 3D, go for it.  I wouldn't even let 3D enter into my buying process.

Re: Will BestBuy include 2 free pairs of glasses w/ Samsung 3DTV purchase?

Thanks for replying...

There's only a few companies I would ever buy a TV from (Sony, Panasonic and Samsung).  Sony's out of my price range right now, so it was a debate between Panasonic and Samsung.  For the picture quality you talked about I'd only buy a plasma, and it just so happens all 2011 1080p plasmas from Samsung also happen to be 3D.  Plus reading reviews, sports are incredible in 3D, and Samsung's 2D-to-3D conversion is supposed to look really good, especially with sports...

Plus I'd prefer active 3D glasses over the dimmer picture caused by passive glasses, and most of the reviews say the same that active still triumphs over passive except for the price (hence why I'm looking for 2 free pairs)...If I'm spending any money on a new TV I need the best of the best, especially with how quickly technology gets outdated.

And it's funny the only party I don't really trust is BestBuy.  The only reason I'm going with them over saving litterally $200+ dollars from another site, is their free ship-to-store, (and to New Hampshire to boot, no sales tax!, I live in New Jersey but parent's live across the border in Vermont) and their return policy incase I'm not completely satisfied with the TV.  The couple of websites that had it priced $200 less then BestBuy didn't allow returns.

Thanks for trying though...
