Using Speakers In Parallel With a Stereo

Recently my father purchased a Dynex LCD TV. While the picture is good, I can't stand the "tinny" sound which they produce. Although I don't consider myself an audiophile enough to purchase additional audio equipment, I do enjoy clear sound. I have a set of twenty year old Realistic speakers plugged into my stereo. I have been thinking about the possibility of getting two "Y" phono jack adaptors and connecting both my stereo and TV to them. While my stereo can put out 100 watts per channel, it is rarely gets up to 2 watts per channel. Does anybody think that doing this could damage a new set.

Thanks,
   Joel

As long as the speakers run fine on the current receiver, you'll be fine.

Re: Using Speakers In Parallel With a Stereo

You should consider utilizing the audio outputs of the TV( to the inputs of the receiver/amp).
