Trumotion?

Does anyone else have the LG 47LM6200?

There is no Trumotion option at all on my settings or anywhere.

Call and emailed LG and they make no sense.

Re: Trumotion?

That's odd.  The 6200 should have the feature built-in.  Have you tried going into the store to ask the associates to test it on their models or gone through the users manual?

Re: Trumotion?

I haven't gone back yet but I'm going to. The user manual doesn't mention much about video settings.

I've called LG and they say it runs at 120hz automatically but I could tell if it is or isn't and it"s not.

Re: Trumotion?

You really do not want to enable trumotion anyway.  With any source but a 25fps direct film transfer, it will actually degrade the picture.  It was a marketing gimmick (actually a non-gimmick), and does nothing to smooth motion on the screen.  In fact, with fat motion, it actually degrades the picture....

Re: Trumotion?

Automatic 120hz processing is only active under 2 conditions. If there is a true 120hz incoming signal (currently only with specific BluRays and a few video games) or the 3D mode is activated. Otherwise as suggested, the 120hz actually degrades picture quality by manufacturing averaged frames of false video.

Re: Trumotion?

To be fair to manufactures, the 120hz can be pleasing to some. Assuming it's executed correctly. Some do it better than others.

I agree that such a feature is marginal on a display. Kind of like 3D. They're cool to have, but you should not pay exorbitant amounts to have it.

Re: Trumotion?

I do not think 3D will be taken seriously until a single standard is adopted.  Passive, active, polymorphic, and all the other competing variants...many of whick will be dead in 3 years.  Would be a shame to buy a top tier TV with 3D only to have it's "flavor" of 3D not supported for long...
